I was wondering just how different the Splendor is against the other Conquest ships. The layout seems to be similiar and the size difference is like 3000 tons which is nothing in ship terms. It is considered its own class so what is so different about it? Anybody know?

Splendor is not a Conquest Class ship. It is a class of it's own. The most striking difference is that the sliding roof that you see aft on the Conquest Class is covering the mid-ship pool and giant screen area. TV screen is forward of the pool and mounted lower because of the roof. The jacuzzis are on the balcony level that surrounds the pool. The aft pool area is open. There is also a pool two decks above Lido and forward where the water slide is. Below the Lido it is pretty much what you would expect from Carnival. Seems like I may have read somewhere that the Splendor was originally ordered for Costa. 8)
Yeah the Splendor was originally supposed to be a new Costa ship, but Carnival decided to switch it over to their own line, so it has the layout of the newer Costa builds, instead of the Conquest class.
I am tickled they added the spa category cabins and expanded the spa amenities!!!!
I sail on her in 60 days and I am very eager!!!!
I sail next April and I am very eager. She sounds nice. 8)
Also in 2010 I hoping to a driving tour to your part of the world, as in Waterton and Banff National Parks. Jasper NP wouldn't be so bad either.
Too bad I can't help myself, I'm SO addicted to travel !
