Default shore excursions Freeport and Nassau

Looking for good excursions not only based on price but also quality. Going to a nice beach to just relax would also be good if there are any suggestions for that. Thanks for any suggestions and help.

canes20;

I would suggest a "tour" to Senor Frogs right by the dock in Nassua! I am just teasing, and there are lots of nice tours to do in Nassua not as much in Freeport. I would make time to stop at Senor Frogs, good drinks and lots of fun! Snorkeling is good at both of the ports. You can book that on the ship or ahead of time. Check the Carnival site. Enjoy your cruise!

We did the Kayak adventure in Freeport and it was lots of fun and not too difficult. (we are both seniors). We booked it thru the ship.
In Nassau we did Atlantis which was expensive but once in a life time...

I always rec Atlantis for folks heading to Nassau. I've been there twice and I would still go back. I probably will never be able to afford to stay there, so I buy the day pass and wander around. It's like $5 for a taxi from the port to Paradise Island where Atlantis is the main attraction. It's beautifully landscaped, beautiful architecture, a ton of aquarium tanks and ponds with everything you can think of swimming around, they have a cavern-like part of the hotel set up to tour where you see the artifacts and aquatic life as well. So you can tour the inside of the hotel (casino, shops, and caverns) and you can tour the grounds with aquatic life and beautiful greenery and your day pass includes use of the lagoon, the beach, and the pools at Atlantis. I think I paid $55 for the day pass and I did not book thru the cruise. I just hailed a cab over and wala!

Have fun!

Don't have any suggestions for Freeport, but make sure you book something. Freeport is not a port just to get off the ship and hang out. You dock in and industrial area that seems like you're on a cattle boat or something. So, book something or stay on ship.

We set sail to the Bahamas on August 23rd and I already booked a tour in Nassau thru Carnival. We're doing the Atlantis Beach Day. It sounds to be loads of fun. We get to use their waterpark, beach, aquarium, visit their archaeological dig, and lunch is included. The total price for three people is $267 (a bit steep, if you ask me). I still have to book the tour for my mom and my son.

While in Freeport, I'm eyeing the jeep tour day, but that's really expensive, but other than that, I see nothing else that interests me.

i have stayed at the atlantis ... nice place , very nice grounds.. service was just OK..
a couple things you should know
you can get day passes at the hotel itself ( not thru CCL) you will save some money.
one of carnival passes offers lunch... the lunch they offer is thru one of atlantis's food stands/courts.. not the resturants
The resturants are very expensive.. great food but very expensive... we had appitizers there that were 75.00 ea. lol

I can't help with Freeport (crappy area) as we did the glass bottom boat and I thought it was a waste of $ and time.

We did the Atlantis tour in nassau and recommend it if you don't mind 45 minutes of walking around with no place to sit until the tour is done. I have a bad leg and didn't realize how much walking it would be. Beautiful resort though and not one that most of us can afford to actually stay at.,

$267 doesn't sound bad if you booked through the ship and it includes lunch but I agree with a previous poster that you can buy a day pass directly at Atlantis and it doesn't include lunch. Like I said, it was only $55. The self tours and water time were perfect for the amount of time I had in Nassau. I was able to grab lunch on the ship.

Take a $4.00 per person cab ride from the dock/terminal to cabbage beach. It is a beautiful beach and you can rent chairs and umbrellas there as well. $20.00 for umbrellas and $10.00 for chairs.

If relaxing at a beautiful beach is what you want then this is it. If you want more eye candy and people then try Atlantis.

Freeport:
Capt. Tony : http://www.sanddollarcruise.com/snorkel/default.html
The old Westin/Sheraton is now Radission:
http://www.radisson.com/hotels/bsgrand

You can get a day pass (as of a week ago) for around $20pp including pools/restrooms. Great beach and at Our Lucaya is shopping/food (Subway is actually reasonable)/bars/liquor stores/casino/etc. You can go to the beach without paying the fee but no pools/restrooms.... across the street at shopping/bars are public restrooms. $5pp each way for shared taxi from ship.
At the pier/port every day they have more and more shops/straw market/etc. You used to not be able to do anything at the pier but that is changing every day. It is possible to get off the ship, shop, drink, be merry, get that trinket/t-shirt and never leave the pier.

Nassau: Atlantis is expensive and IMHO not worth it. I have never seen the price at $55... I have heard that some taxi's have "fake" tickets that they will sell you... sometimes they work, sometimes not. At Atlantis the day pass fee is $105pp for beach/pools/slide/digs(aquarium)/etc. with food being costly. you can get the "digs" for $35pp and casino/entrance/shopping area is free.

Wyndham/Sheraton resort is a $5pp taxi ride, $40pp for day pass including a lunch buffet. Resort has wonderful pool/beach/one slide/entertainment/volleyball/bars/etc. You can use both hotels pools/beach area... jet skis/parasailing/snorkeling trips are available for contractors on the beach.

Yellowbird/etc:

Hope this helps..
