Default don't forget...

Ok, my husband and I just went on a cruise to Mexico. There a few things that we forgot and I thought I would mention for other people...

*travel alarm clock- There are NO clocks in the room. I know what you think, "I'm on vacation, what do I need a clock for?" Seriously, there are events, shows, departure/arrival times, dinner... that you need to be at specific times.

*pre-paid phone card- Our cell phone fees went UP high when we were on international water.

*hair dryer- There is no hair dryer in the cabin.

*moisturizer- Walking around the ship, completely dried out my skin.

I hope I've helped!

Beth

It's unusual to not have a hairdryer in the cabin..what ship were you on?I always bring one anyway, because I have had broken ones, and sometimes not enough power to dry my hair...better safe than sorry I say

Default hair dryer

We were on the Carnival Fantasy. I usually take my showers at night so, I didn't think about packing a hair dryer but, with all the swimming, laying out....I had to take a shower before dinner and with no hair dryer. It was annoying waiting for my hair to dry!

Thanks for the advise! Good stuff.
We always use the "wake up" call system too. It's never let us down yet.
They usually hide the hair dryers in one of the drawers of the vanity, but even if you find it, it's a piece of crap. Very weak, and you must hold in the trigger to keep it running. As a result, we take a small travel dryer, which is half the size, and twice the volume of hot air.

Thanks for posting,

Ken

My cell phone had a clock and an alarm if I should need one. I have not used an alarm for anything for many years though.

Default cell phone

Yes, we had our cell phones too. We used them for checking the time the entire time. Do you know how annoying it was to have grab one of our cell phones and flip/slide it every time we wanted to see the time?

I would have prefered to have a travel alarm clock.

I leave the travel alarm clock, beach bags, and our travel sized power strip in our suitcase at all times, so that when I get ready to pack...I don't forget them.

I don't have enough hair left to worry about a hair dryer

My internal body clock seems to work for me on a cruise plus i am an early riser

I agree with OP about bringing your own hairdryer. I forgot to bring my own once and, wouldn't you know it, that was the time the one in the room didn't work! I have a combo travel hairdryer/iron that's great. I know you're not supposed to have irons, but mine 'all-in-one' :) It is handy though.

Gotta have my travel alarm or I would sleep the day away. I probably need the sleep, but I don't want to miss the fun.

I also use the alarm clock on my cell phone and bring my own travel hair dryer. My hair pretty long and thick, so I always bring my own.

I agree with keeping travel-only items ready to go in your carry on or suitcase so they wn't be forgotten in the future. I keep certain things in my carry on and certain things in a zippered tote bag. I don't travel with anything more than those two items.

Also, I have developed a great planning & packing checklist which I use for all trips, including just loval ovrernights, that I can either print out and cross off items as I pack them or check them off on the computer.

I have a huge planning & packing checklist I created that makes it easy to take and alter it to suit ytour own needs. So if you want a copy, pm me and provide your email address.
