Default Carnival Glory

Just wondering if anyone has been on this ship and how they like it. My Fiance' and I are trying to plan our honeymoon for April of next year. We have been on RCCL once this past Feb. We have heard bad things about Carnival so it took us a little while to make up our mind. What do you think of Carnival GLory??

GLORY is GREAT IMO. We've sailed her 3 times in the past, and as a matter of fact, just booked her again for next month. Lots to do, great food, superior service and crew, and outstanding entertainment! Have no fear,,,you'll enjoy "Glory".

I agree with Ken, we have sailed on the Glory three times also and had a wonderful cruise experience each time.

Can't understand why people have a negative view of Carnival, I much prefer it over RCCL. I think Carnival has Royal Caribbean beat by a mile as far as food quality is concerned, service is about the same on both cruise lines, destinations are basically the same and Carnival provides a better value for your cruise dollars, in my opinion.

Ditto Ken and Rosetattoo. I loved Glory. Very pretty colorful ship. Great service and food. Lots to keep you busy and great entertainment.

My BF and I loved the Glory; it was his first cruise, my second. It's clean, large, excellent excellent food, (try the Supper Club-Emerald Room too), entertainment was exciting every night, so much to do , so little time, our CD was awesome (WEE JIMMY), and the staff/service-I wouldn't have changed a thing.

The only thing I didn't like about the Glory was sailing from Port Caneveral; it's a good 45min-1hr from Orlando. If you don't mind the transfer, then give Glory a go. I'd be surprised if you didn't enjoy it!

Congrats to you and your fiance!

Glory is very nice, have been on it 3 times. You may want to look at what is available on Dream i n April. It is the newest and biggest Carnival has and it is going to be going out of Port Canaveral and Glory will be in Miami.

I went on Freedom of the Seas with RCCL.

We want to leave the day after the wedding so "Dream" was kind of out of the picture unless we wanted to wait. Plus Glory goes to Puerto Rico. We are really looking forward to going there.

I HAVE BEEN ON THE GLORY, I WAS JUST ASKING SO I COULD COMPARE WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN ON TO CARNIVAL. THE FOS IS BIGGER AND YOU WON'T HAVE THE PROMANADE, FLOW RIDER ICE RINK, ROCK CLIMBING WALL. YOU WILL HOWEVER HAVE VERY COMFORTABLE BEDDING, GREAT SERVICE, BETTER FOOD. I ENJOYED THE GLORY VERY MUCH, IT IS NOT THE SAME EXPERIENCE, BUT THAT ISN'T ALWAY'S A BAD THING. GO WITH AN OPEN MIND AND ENJOY YOURSELVES.

Just returned yesterday from a week on the Glory. Nice ship but it is showing its age already. Lots of rust and worn and stained carpet. The food was alright but not great. The menu has gone more to pasta, fish and chicken and away from steaks. Also the CD was not up to par with others.

Ash42410, don't go by one or two bad comments about the ship when the majority of the comments are positive. It's a great ship. A little rust, a little worn carpet does not make or break a great cruise, at least for me anyway. I go for the relaxation and the sunsets and for somebody else waiting on me for a WHOLE week. Go and enjoy your cruise.

I am always way to busy and enjoying myself to look at carpet or rust anywhere. Being on a cruise ship is so heavenly i jsut enjoy people taking care of me and waiting on my every whim. I see nothing else. Have a great time.

I wasn't posting bad comments, the lady asked about the ship and since we just left the ship yesterday I gave my answer. We sailed the Freedom in April and it is much better all around than the Glory. I know a little rust and stained carpet is to be expected. But when you stand in the elevater and see a floor that has broken and missing tile everywhere or stand on your balcony and can't hold the wood railing due to splinters all over it. Or the fact that there was almost always 2 or 3 elevaters being worked on by maintence and not working for a day or two it kind of ruins the cruise experience. I think for the money there is better ships out there at this time. Granted the Glory is over 4 years old now and due for a mini overhaul. After which time it will be up there with the best again. We sailed the Legend just before it's overhaul and again just after and it was a whole new ship and well worth the money. But untill the Glory goes thru it's overhaul I can't recommend it to anyone. Sorry

My hubby and I cruised the Carnival Glory in May. We loved every
minute of it.
We had a cabin on the Panorama Deck nice and close
to the pools and buffet.
The shows were very good, the staff accomodating as always and the
have great activities for those who choose to participate.

There always seems to me to be more to do on Carnival Ships.

Plus I think you will get a lot more value for your money. These
days that really matters too. More money for excursions and
shopping..

Thanks for all of the feedback. This is why we are so iffy on the whole Carnival ship. I do look at what the ship looks like and everything but I keep thinking that we won't be on the ship that much. I was ready to call our travel agent tomorrow but now I am not sure. We just don't want to regret it since it will be our honeymoon.

Well what is the alternative ship if you don't choose the Glory?
Probably the Freedom of the Seas. It would give you a chance
to experience Carnival's "fun ship".

Consider what types of activities you like, if you aren't into
ice skating rink, boxing, and wave rider, what ports you visit,
the cost, write down pros and cons..

We had the same dilema in May. We were originally booked on
the Freedom of the Seas and last minute switched.
We saved found a great deal & $600 the itineraries were almost identical.

Such decisions huh??

Happy Honeymoon either way, a cruise is what you make it.
Being your honeymoon... you'll be happy regardless!!

The Glory is a tad too big for me, but I have mobility problems. And I still thought that it was a beautiful ship. I would go on it again any time. But, then, I am a big Carnival fan. Used to prefer other cruise lines, but to us, Carnival provides all the things we love about cruising at a price that allows us to have some spending money left to enjoy ourselves, guilt-free. But, any cruise honeymoon is something special. Congrats and happy honneymoon.

We already went on Freedom with RCCL so that's why we wanted to pick Carnival. We are already saving $400 because my mom has a timeshare and gets a discount on cruises. Which is wonderful. I think the ports will make up for the lack of things on the ship.

My family and I just got off the Glory this past Saturday - and I was pleasantly surprised. Our last cruise was on the Mariner of the Seas, and I was hesitant about Carnival. I was afraid the clientele would be too rowdy, the smoke unbearable, and the staff not very friendly.

Yes, there is a party element on board around the pool, as there is on ships that cater to younger crowds, but I thought the ship was very family friendly. We chose to park ourselves on the quieter, upper deck away from the pool (there is a shower nearby to jump in when you get too hot), away from the hairest-chest contest and other nonsense. There wasn't too much smoking around the decks, to my surprise. There was a bit of smoke in the Casino, which I would have happily avoided (except for the one time I just HAD to learn the steps to Thriller!).

Overall, I thought the food was actually better than on RCCL. I would definitely recommend the Supper Club. It was totally worth the $30 a person charge (for us, meals are a HUGE part of vacation).

Our room steward was very friendly and hospitable to us (my husband likes to sleep late and more than once "Wiyu" had to come back by our room to clean up just minutes before he got off at 1:00). Our son was sick one evening, and Wiyu went out of his way to take care of us. Our waiters were great, too.

I picked Carnival because of the price and the activities for our teenager, but would tell people, "We're going on Carnival, so I hope it's okay." But after our trip last week, I would very happily sail on the Glory again!

Have fun!

Ash
You are worring way too much about nothing.
However, if you will be second guessing your choice from now until the honeymoon book a different ship. There are lots of great ships out there including the Glory. I just booked it today and will have a great cruise. 8)
Good Luck

The Glory was my fifth cruise (including Norwegian and RCCL), so I don't think I'm speaking as someone who is totally new to cruising. Having said that, I was totally satisfied with the quality of the ship. I did not see/notice stained carpeting or missing tiles (after I read that post I asked my husband if he remembered any of that, and he said no).

I did not have a balcony so I cannot comment on the "splinters on the railing," although I didn't notice any such thing on the public balconies. I never saw an elevator down (except when they were used the first day to expediate luggage delivery), and I used the elevators often since we were on the first floor. More than once we noticed workmen painting the outside when we were docked.

We picked the Glory because of the price, the sailing destination, and the port. No, it's not the newest ship, but I was satisfied and felt like our money was well-spent. I was not at all disappointed. The crew did tell us that the Glory was moving to Miami and a newer ship would take it's Port Canaveral run, so this may all be moot anyway! :-)

I hope this helps!

I am booking it today!!! We really like the ports it's going to so I think it will be fine. I just hate hearing negative things about it but like I said before, everyone has to form their own opinion.
