Default Pool and lounge areas

I hope this is not a stupid question, but this is only 2nd cruise. From what I remember people would put towels on lounge chairs in the morning to save. I never did this, but because we are on a bigger ship (Splendor in Sept), will I need to do this or is there plenty of pool space at all times of the day? Is there a particular time where the spas or jucuzzis are extra crowned? I hope I am not overwhelmed by her sheer size and many people. Just want to sit, relax and have fun. Thanks

I was on the Fascination in July and if you wanted to get "poolside" then yes, you would need to get up early.

However, if it is not important that you get right beside the pool it was our experience that there was always lounge chairs available on the deck above/overlooking the pool.

The pools and hot tubs on the Fascination are small and always seemed crowded but if you do not mind "togetherness" then you could usually find a spot to get in and cool off.

No one spends the entire day in the pools or hot tubs. Just sit there and relax and you will see plenty of opportunity to get in and have your fun in the pools too. I have always gotten to go in the pools and hot tubs at some point during the days. For the most part people are so nice ona cruise. we have met many people in the pools and had great conversations. Meting new people is so much fun.Happy cruising

The tactic of holding chairs from early morning is known as "chair hogs". It is very much frowned upon, and indeed, Celebrity has just announced a program called "Chair Concierge or Pool Butlers" that will assist pax in finding a lounger.

Carnival recently talked of enforcing their policy on this.

Use the search feature here to learn more.

You may find that the items you use to hold the chair will be removed and the chair in use.

There are many areas on the ship to sit and relax aside from the main pool area. We like the aft upper decks by the funnel and the partially covered area outside the buffet aft.

I agree with Phil and Liz, if you stay away from the main pool areas, there are tons of loungers available and you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve a chair. People congregate around the main Lido Deck pool because that is where all the pool and deck games take place, plus the live band.

You don't mention which ship you will be sailing on but the aft deck is great and the wait staff still comes up there to serve you drinks. You're still close enough to the restaurants and fun if you want to participate but there is more privacy and quiet areas. If you're sailing on any Conquest class ship, there are areas on Deck 10 Panorama aft on the Port and Starboard sides that have ample chairs in the shade and sun, these areas are also private and quiet and you can access the Lido buffet restaurant from this deck (you will be on the second floor of the restaurant).

Please do not join the ranks of the tacky chair hogs. It really isn't fair to "reserve" one for later in the day. People who want an early swim have as much right to one as anyone else. Plus, as stated, you really don't need to do it.

The 2 Carnival cruises of the last 2 summers that I was on (see signature), I do not recall not being able to find a chair. While it may not have been the optimum spot, there was always chairs available if you look around. Of course it may be that I avoided the hotest part of the day so went to the pool in the late morning or late afternoons while finding other indoor activities during mid day.

It seems to be crowded the most around lunch time but some Carnival ships have a jacuzzi in the spa area. It's usually 1 or 2 people in it. I like it for privacy.
