Power Supplies in Cabins

Hi all,

As a newbie about to go on his first cruise I have been reading with interest the comments on this forum. I have particularly taken note of the 'packing list'. I see an extension lead is recommended for additional electrical items. My question is 'what type of power is in the cabins'? I am assuming it is the standard US flat two pin system. What voltage is it? Will I need an adaptor/trasformer for UK appliances? Will a universal adapter do the trick?
Cheers for any answers forthcoming and I am sure I will be back with more questions.

Hello George and Bev, and welcome aboard! I think you'll find both U.S., 110, 60 cycle outlets, and European type plugged 220, 50 cycle outlets, both in the bath and in the cabin. There is usually only one of each of the outlets, so that's why they suggest an extension cord, with additional outlets, if you need to plug in multiple devices. Hope this helps, and have a GREAT cruise.

Standard 2 flat pin, same as North America......no adaptors needed. We bring an extension bar because there are not many outlets and it becomes handy for battery rechargers etc.

Here is a pic of the outlets.

You could bring an extension cord or power stick.

I always pack a multi-outlet plug (very inexpensive) so I can warm up my curling iron and dry my hair at the same time. The electrical outlet in the bathroom is for electric shavers only.

My daughter always packs a small fan and uses it if the room gets stuffy. Also, my grandson is an avid "gamer" and seems to have lots of gadgets to plug in and charge up.

Have a wonderful cruise!!!
