Default Embarkation time

I know the time usually is 1pm-3pm printed on the documents but i have heard of people being able to board the ship before this time. What is the earliest time that anyone has been able to board the ship?

I think we boarded between 11 and 11:30 once, the next time we did not do early check in but we were sitting down to lunch by 1pm.

11-12 is generally the time most lines start the party going If there is a customs hold up as I once experienced. it could be a while...

If you are planning on early embarkation, keep in mind that you will probably not be able to go to your cabin - so you'll be lugging your carry-ons around on the Lido deck. Plus you won't have your luggage, so if you are looking for some pool time, but sure to have your suit in that carry on.

I've probably read several dozen reviews from different websites for Galveston embarkation. The earliest I've read seems to be approximately 11:30am. Don't know if different ports have different times.

I'll know better after I board this Sunday. I'm planning to arrive around 10:45am in hopes of beating the rush hour. I'm planning a backpack with a few essential items so I don't have too much to lug around. In the past, I've had to drag a small rolling carry-on around Lido deck until my room was ready.

Our embarkation in Houston, was thw worst I have ever experienced, with lines outside the building, like I have never seen. I don't rememebr what time we got there, but, once we got inside, it was not much better, with upset passengers and personnel, that seemed unable to cope that well I hope yours is better

On all five of my cruises have been about the same. Arrived 1000-1030, and was on board by 1200-1230. A cruise is one thing I have no problem waiting for.

Happy Sailing

In most ports it appears that arriving at about 11:00 works well and they're prepared to take your laggage. Sometimes you get on by noon, sometimes (Princess did it) you get through some of the initial screening and are kept in a waiting area. I've never not been allowed to go to my cabin as soon as I've boarded but I have waited a while for my luggage. By the way, the worst disembarkation I ever had was in Houston. It was a hunt to find on the luggage and it certainly wasn't kept together. Take a bottle of water and a book and you should be fine.

The earliest I have ever got on was not Carnival but Royal. It was about 8:30am. The ship at that time stopped in Key West prior to home port and the ship cleared customs there. We were off the ship by 7am coming back...
For Carnival the earliest is around 11am and the latest is 2:30pm... which was in Charleston when we had been told 6pm..
Go early, take a chance and have some fun... wear a balloon hat!

We usually shoot for 11:30, and are usually quite successful.

Worst boarding ever.
9:30am Sunday morning Hotel Checkout with everyone ending their week or weekend on the beach.
10:00am Just got checked out before the 10am deadline (I’m sure they would have not charged us the extra day since the line was so long but made it just under the wire anyway).
10:05am Taxi gets stopped and ticketed for illegal left turn out of the hotel.
10:30am Pleasant enough taxi ride to the sea port even though the driver was peeved about the ticket.
10:35am At the Miami terminal, no lines
10:35am DW calls her sister’s family at the airport. “They’re getting on the bus let’s just wait here and we can all board together.
10:45am No Lines.
11:00am Short line, Calls again. Still at the airport waiting for the bus to fill up.
11:15am Line is beginning to grow. “They’re on the way now, we’ll just wait a little longer.”
11:30am Boarding started, lines are still growing. Busses start arriving, up till now it was just taxis or personal cars.
11:45am Long lines now, busses arriving in a constant stream.
12:00am Air port busses arrive. In-laws told to wait on bus, luggage will be unload in order by ship (3 ships in port) ours last.
12:45am All buses finish unloading with in-laws nearly last, line extends out of the terminal door
1:10pm Gaps filled in on In-laws fun pass, now able to enter lines.
1:30pm Through X-ray and metal detectors
1:50pm Checked in and sail sign card in hand
2:10pm Photo (Why isn’t anyone smiling)
2:15pm Aboard ship
2:25pm Dropped carryons in room
2:30pm Lido Deck
2:45pm Foo foo drink in hand and a plate from the buffet, forgot all about checkouts, tickets, waiting, lines….

Conclusion – We now always arrive before 11:00, board about 11:30 and wait for everyone else on the Lido deck with a foo foo drink and plate from the buffet.

I try to get there by 11am and eating by noon.

FYI, if Platinum on Carnival, your cabin is probably ready and I drop my luggage and sometimes me off.

just got off Conquest. did the self debarkation. amazingly our deck, #2, was first to be called. out of custom by 7:45am.

in any case, to continue with embarkation story...got done with lunch by 1pm. decided to drop of bags in room before wandering the ship. main doors to rooms were closed with sign stating to wait for 1:30pm. pushed thru doors any ways
room was done so dropped of carry ons without incidence.

talked to person who got to port at 1pm and had to put up with long lines.

next time will shoot for 11:00 to 11:30am arrival which will probably be optimum
