Default Less than 24 hours until embarkation

Still packing , only have 7 hours until we need to be at the airport .
Oy! seems like we waited until the last minute to get things done.

I guess I will settle down once we get on the plane.

I will try to remember to get an extra copy of the Capers (Funtimes). I don't have to go back to work right away, so hopefully I will get a chance to scan them and put them online.

I guess it is too late to ask if anyone wants me to find out anything for them.

Hopefully I will remember to write things down and can leave a good report when we get back.

Jennifer, that sounds like a fun plan. Where could I find Versailles and the Cuban food? How about Kettle in Manhattan Beach? I am a big time foodie, and it shows.. but i love great food.

Enjoy your cruise on Splendor.

AL

Here's the link to Versailles. We go to the one in Manhattan Beach.
Versailles Cuban Restaurant

Here's the link to the Kettle. Go there very, very hungry! I love les oeufs pain perdu. The original owners of the Kettle are the ones who went on to found the chain restaurant Mimi's Cafe. so if you have a Mimi's in your area, you may see some similiarities in the menu, but the original Kettle is sooooo much better!

Enjoy!

Hi guys. I need help. I've pretty much made up my mind about what to do in Mazatlan and Cabo, but I am at a loss about what to do during the day in Puerto Vallarta. Want to do Rhythms of the Night in the evening though. The family member I will be with has heart problems, so that cuts out quite a few of the possible things to do. We'll probably do the city tour in Mazatlan, and have a little beach time in Cabo, so I don't know about doing the same thing twice.. Is PV pretty and interesting enough to take a city tour? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey AL. Nope. Not booked it yet, but am thinking about doing it through Carnival. I did find an independent vendor that was only $15.00 less than Carnival, and they did not have pier pickup. I'll let you know if I find anything better.

We snorkeled in in Puerto Vallarta and I don't recommend it. The people were nice and everything. The Pacific Ocean isn't the same as the Sea of Cortez I would snorkel in the Cabo San Lucas next time. We did walk down by the malecon area on the beach. I loved it lots of beautiful sand sculptures. I would recommend taking a walk down there. Bring some change for tips. I didn't take a camera but I found this picture to give you are idea. The black box is for tips. That is how these artist get paid.

Only 14 more days until we sail! Getting very excited!
Kat if you wanted to update the list ... BahamaMomma is NOT going on the cruise after all. she had some other commitments that caused her to have to cancel.
(there are about 12 more that are going that are in our group but they didn't check in here)

Lots of shops in that area. Basically across the street from the beach are a bunch of stores and restaurants. It's a good place to walk around and shop/eat.

Thank you. So guess we'll do the boardwalk and shopping in PV during the day, and Rhythms of the Night in the evening. I am planning on doing the city tour in Mazatlan. Does anyone know if there are glass bottom boat vendors at the marina in Cabo? I don't want to pay what Carnival wants, and I don't really want to pay what some of the independent vendors online want, either. If there are, where are they and how much do they charge? Thanks.

AL, I never did find a good price on the Rhythms of the Night independent excursion. My advice is to go ahead and go to the Carnival website and book through them, or wait until you are on the boat. It's $100 per person, but I have heard so many good things about this that I am going to pay it.

Yes, Rhythms of the Night is well worth the price. I booked my tour through the Carnival site and have no regrets.

thanks... i think I will do that same thing.. some other excursions I might book outside of Carnival, but this one I think I will book through them. Everyone I know who has seen Rhythms of the Night says it's very good and worth it too.

There are glass boat vendors at the marina. We hired one of those guys and our tour went by Pelican Rock near Lover's Beach lots of fish. This was on the Sea of Cortez side so the water was nice and clear. We passed by the arch and got great pictures of it. He took us around to the Pacific Ocean side. After a short tour he dropped us off at Medano Beach we stayed until 1PM and he came back pick us and took us back to the pier. Very easy. We had his card so we could call him if we needed to. We arranged the price before getting in the boat. I can't remember exactly what we paid I think it was about $20 per person maybe a little more. I know the Marnia also charged us about $2 per person on top of the tour price. So keep that in mind. Medano Beach is my favorite in Cabo San Lucas much easier to swim in the Lover's Beach plus lots of bathrooms. No bathrooms at Lover's Beach.

Here is the picture I took from the glass bottom boat.

Oh I forgot he took us pass this rock all the sea loins hang out at. Here is a picture of that.

I finally got it worked out. It took forever to make up my mind. My cousin was no help as she wants to do everything! I've purchased the excursions now so I can't really cahne my mind, other than in Cabo. We are going to do the glass bottom boats in Cabo by independent vendor.

We are doing the Mismaloya City Tour in PV and Rhythms of the Night. In Mazatalan we are doing the Colonial Villages of the Sierra Madre. For those who have been on this tour, are there bathrooms at all of the stops? I was trying to take our health isssues into consideration when I booked the excursions but I forgot about the potty breaks, and the Sierra Madre one is six hours long.

Good news . There are plenty of restroom stops as I recall.
The brick place, no. The bread place has the bano across the street, Capala is in the restaurant, Concordia is in the city hall, and furniture place has one also.
This was a wonderful tour to the authentic Mexico. Those colonial towns with cobblestone streets & lovely old churches are right down my alley.

Whew! Thanks for letting me know. My cousin will be happy. Yeah, it does seem like a good way to get a sense of the country. I'm looking forward to it. Well, I am looking forward to the whole cruise.
