Default Which dining room?

When on a ship with 2 dining rooms, how do they decide which dining room you are assigned to?
Is it totally random, or do they give the room closet to your cabin?
Thanks everyone. 8) 8)

Would suggest that you request Black Pearl as there is much more vibration in aft restaurant and in addition get table right below the stairs as this will be where all the action takes place with singing waiters etc each nite. Also this is most accessable from the main section of the ship where most people assemble and party before dinner.

Not sure how they assign it. I usually have an aft cabin but usually have the more forward dining room.

How was the cruise, Snooze?

The aft restaurant is larger, so there can't be a 50-50 split and I know you can request to be switched from one to the other.

In my experience, the maitre d' with seniority gets the aft dining room. If that maitre d' happens to be Ken Byrne, it is an experience not to be missed.

I'm looking forward to seeing him again on Carnival Dream. I'll try to remember to ask him!

On our last 15 cruises, we have requested early dining and in every instance have been assigned to the forward dining room.

Ditto on the "Black Pearl". It was by far our favorite. 8)

Has one restaurant become the "traditional" restaurant, and the other "any time"?
