Default Leaving Ney York(Manhatten) on a cruise. Which side to book?

What side of the Carnival Miracle cruise ship should I book my families balcony room to ensure we are facing the statue of Liberty and the manhatten skyline on the way out of port?

Manhattan skyline will be on Port side and Statue of Liberty on Starboard side as the ship leaves the dock.

I respectfully disagree with you. As you face forward, port side will be on your right as is the Statue and Ellis Island.

Absolutely not!!

I just sailed on Triumph last month and BOTH Liberty Island, Ellis Island, and Jersey are on the Starboard side when leaving port The City (Manhattan) and then Brooklyn are on the Port side.

I respectfully have to correct you. Port side, which is always the left side of the ship facing forward and starboard is always the right. When you are leaving manhattan, you are traveling south, which is the Starboard side facing Statue of Liberty. I have done this cruise before.
