What's going to happen on wednesday?

If the Splendor is changing the first two days at sea to Catalina and Encenada, then what will they do on Wednesday?
Does anyone know? I'm sure the hurricane will still be effecting the schedule.... any chance they would travel up north a bit?
Just curious... I don't think it's going to effect my cruise next week, but hey, you never know....

I believe that Carnival put the Ensenada stop on in order to fulfill its requirements under the Passenger Services Act. This will allow them to go wherever they want after that. I would bet that if the hurricane is bearing down on Cabo and along the Baja they will go to San Francisco or Monterey.

I wouldn't make any bets on seeing much of Mexico on this trip. What the heck, you'll still have a great time onboard.

Carnival and other cruise lines blew off the PSA during the Piggy Flu thing, Act 1, pretty much daring the US to fine them. I think there was kind of a mutual agreement that although they violated the act, there was sufficient cause to do so and no fine.

I would love to be on that cruise. What fun it would be to be on and almost new ship, going somewhere.

Can that ship fit under the Golden Gate? Just curious.

I'm sure there will be some disappointed passengers, but I hope they have a good time. It would be an adventure to find out what your next port will be on a day by day basis.

It reminds me of a review I read several years ago.

A family who were from the upper East coast, wanted a little bit of the warm weather, so they booked a cruise to St. Thomas and beyond.

Hurricane developed, and the ship was re-routed back uo the east coast within several miles of their house.

She took her clothes home to wash for the excursion.

I love it.... I live in the bay area, but it would sure a grand site to see San Francisco from the ship.

And by the way, I've been to Mexicao twice... I'm am really, really okay with going somewhere else. I think it's exciting, although I know there are some who specifically chose this cruise for the ports, but not me...
I chose this cruise because I could drive to the port and it's a bigger and newer ship than the last one.

But all that being said, I'm not sure the hurricane will have any kind of affect on my particular cruise. Either I don't care as long as I am on the ship in a safe location..... say... how about the casino bar. That sounds safe enough.

Ferrangi, if Jimena hits Cabo like it appears its going to then you may have to sit in the bay that day and look at the beach with binoculars. There may be too much damage to tender as there will be virtually no time for repairs if you sail next week. Hopefully Maz and PV will still be on the docket but my guess is you will get residual effects.

I'm okay with that..... my main goal here is to NOT be in high winds and big waves... but that's the chance you take when you book during hurricane season....

I sail the week after Ferrangi. I hope that Cabo makes out OK and there is no damage or problems. I too don't care if we stop at the scheduled ports. I just want to be ont he ship and having a good time. Since I sail leave in 11 days I do hope the weather calms down cuz I want calm seas!!!!

Hurricane Jimena currently show as a category 3 hurricane (120 mph winds speed). Jimena is project with west side of Baja Mexico (looks like Los Cabos got lucky). Tomorrow, Jimena will be downgraded to category 2 (110 mph wind speed). Probably still powerful for ships to make port in baja mexico area. The eye will not make landfall until wed night / Thursday morning. Sounds like day at sea to me.


Also anyone going Caribbeans next week, Tropical Storm Erika seems to quite developing nicely.......

Briguy, Is it still too early to contemplate the weather for our cruise? Where do I go to look for cruise weather information? (2 weeks and 4 days and counting).

I dont really worry about weather until about a week before. Then I will look at weather sites long range forecasts and search for hurricane activity. I think its way too soon too worry about it but I want all the crappy weather to come now and clear out before the 20th. I have pretty good weather karma so if you sail with me all will be well!!

We are leaving for our trip in about 8 hrs. but I will have a little computer access until sunday morning. My last check in will be saturday sometime.
