Default Christmas Cruising

I'm just very curious to know how many people actually cruise during Thanksgiving and Christmas (including New year's). I can't see myself going on vacation during these two holidays without my children and husband.

I have no problems during these holidays because I'm a teacher and automatically get the days off, but my husband works in the hotel industry and is never able to take off during Christmas, or during the summer.

What kind of activities does Carnival offer during Christmas, Christmas day to be exact, and what activities are offered for New Year's Eve? Why do some people opt to cruise during this time of year?

I went on a Christmas cruise last Christmas, and all that I can really remember was that they put on a Christmas show in the afternoon of Christmas day. It included the kids from camp carnival and was pretty good. If you expect a lot of Christmas activates you might be disappointed. My daughter and I went to avoid most of the Christmas activities.

Our first cruise returned to port on Christmas day. There was a Christmas revue on Christmas Eve and a few decorations. Overall it was not very "Christmassy". Also if you have port calls on Christmas Day you might not find many places open.

I understand your dilemma, I wouldn't want to cruise at the holidays without my family. My DW works in the school system, but my business is currently very heavy at year end. No more Christmas cruises for us, for a while.

We cruise a lot on the week prior to Christmas, and it's primarily to get away from the crowds at the mall, and all the hustle and bustle of the holiday. It makes for a very nice cruise, with the ship decorated and Christmas music being played in the atrium and in other areas of the ship. We also cruise at Halloween a lot, and that's REALLY a fun time to cruise.

We did a new year's eve cruise on the Carniva Liberty to ring in 2008
and it was a lot of fun. A party on the Lido deck under the stars in the warm Caribbean is hard to beat.
l
This year we are going on the Liberty OTS. for Thanksgiving.

I do remember Christmas "Name That Tune" with "Raffi". Why do all the CD's staff have "quote names"?
