Casino Opened in Port
I know that while in port the ship's casino stays closed. However, someone told me that while in Nassau, the ship's casino stayed open. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks.

The casino was closed when we were in Nassau on the Fascination and on the Destiny. The only time it was open while we were in port was when we were on the Valor in 2005 and the ship was late leaving because they were waiting for a shore excursion group to return, the casino opened at 6 as it was scheduled but the ship didn't leave until after 7 PM.

Maybe it was about Bermuda, not Nassau? Check out this article, about just that in Bermuda....

Depends on how long your ship is in port for...

I know on both of our 4 day Sensation stops, we were in port from 7AM-7AM the next day and the casino WAS open for some of the day in Nassau on both cruises.

I'm going on the Fascination Saturday, with a stop in Nassau from 7AM-10PM, so I can let you know next Friday, if the casino is open on that sailing.

I will be on the Imagination 27-30 Nov and pierside time in Nassau is 10 AM Sat to 7:30 AM Sunday. So maybe I'll get lucky (bad pun :( .

Chief, I was just in Nassau aboard "Glory", and the casino was closed for the duration of the stay. Like you say,,,maybe you'll get lucky, 'cause I can guarantee you that the machines at "Atlantis" don't pay off worth a damn!

Did you all stay overnight or just during the day? I have never stayed in port overnight on a cruise (other than Navy ships LOL ) so this is new to me. You would think that Carnival would want to see a profit (well more than normal) and if Nassau law allows it, keep the Casino open. Guess I'll just have to wait and see :D !

Another question. What's the best way to get from the piers to Atlantis. It likes it is too far to walk. Thanks.

We just stayed in port during the day. There are a number of ways to get over to "Atlantis". You can actually see it from the ship, but it'd be a long, long hike to walk it. You can take a taxi from the pier, or even take a water taxi from the side of the pier as well. I don't know what the fare from the pier to the "Atlantis" is, but wouldn't think it'd be too much. I'd bet you can find any number of people who'll share a cab with you to keep the cost down, as "Atlantis" is one of the major attractions in Nassau.

The water taxi is $5 return and it is located very close to the pier. The service is good, and the view of the homes is fun too. From where they let you off to the entrance of Atlantis is a very short walk.

To cab over it's about $10.00..worth every penny to see this spectacular resort..

When we were in Nassau on the Sensation, we were in port from 8:00 AM Friday till 6:00 AM Saturday. On Friday night, sometime between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM the ship's casino opened.

This is not the first time I have been docked in Nassau and had the ship's casino open. I think it has to do with the fact that the ship was docked overnight, at least that is what the dealers said.
