Default Planning a frugal wedding

Hi, I joined this forum in hopes that someone can answer some questions for me.

Is it possible to have a frugal ($500 or less)....but nice wedding ceremony on a Carnival cruise ship or off the ship on a beach somewhere?

Does anyone know if it's possible for a couple to get married on a Carnival cruise ship without buying one of the wedding packages they offer? I really can't see paying the prices of their wedding packages when it would just be 5 people....including the bride & groom....and a 6 yr old child. Not to mention the bride isn't old enough to drink. So, no need for champagne.

I don't think you could do a wedding on board without pay Carnival's prices. You can try and make arrangments in port for a wedding. However, sometimes ships miss ports due to weather, swine flu, and/or civil war. So be careful.

Yes, weddings on island can get tricky...one bride, as posted on the boards years ago, planned a wedding on Key West...all her guests were there, as her ship sailed on by

My neice was married on a beach in St Thomas. Besides the bride and groom there were 5 of us there. They have a package for $695 that might be what you are looking for. We ordered a cake on board the ship and had it delivered in the dining room that night. If you are interested PM me and I'll get you the name and website. I'm not sure I can mention it here on the boards.

I was thinking there are cruises that leave from San Juan Puerto Rico or Oahu, Hawaii. Both on US terriority. So it may be easier to get married there before the cruise starts. Here is a thread about San Juan Weddings.
