I am a bit further away than you, around 6 hours, living in Virginia, but that is half the time to Miami. I also have family in Columbia, SC I could visit on the way. Another advantage this offers is the fact that for most people in Virginia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas, their regular vacation is one of the beaches in the Carolinas. This makes it an easier sell for those of us in the travel business in this area to get them to switch to cruising now that Charleston is becoming a more influential port city when it comes to the cruise lines.
We are really pumped about this!! Being near Charlotte its only a 3.5 hour drive down for us. SO much better than driving all of the way to Florida or having to fly. I believe this will allow us at least one more cruise per year than if we had to go to Florida!!
