Default Honduras Shore Excursions Cancelled?

I heard that back in April Carnival canceled all shore excursions to Honduras due to the civil unrest (coup) that was taking place. Has anyone heard if they are planning to do so again?

It looks like things in Honduras are heating up again...

They have canceled Roatan when there were protests on the island, but those had nothing to do with a "coup" (not sure it even was a coup). Those were about a 300% increase in electric rates.

Roatan has the best snorkeling and Carnival's new Roatan dock is supposed to open next month.

We are leaving Sun on the Valor and Roatan is one of our stops. I was able to book the Tabana beach break with no problem.

Of course it is possible that something could happen and we would not go there.

Will let you know when we get back what happens.

I was just in Honduras on Friday and they said that most everything regarding the civil unrest is on the mainland.

And it appears that the "new" dock is up and running. The stores were open just not all of the store/restaurant spaces were filled. Many had for sale/rent signs in them. It was quite a change from 2007 when the area was only a gravel lot.

And I agree Tabayana beach was AMAZING!

Zydeco had it spot on....

From Johns blog....
"Roatan...beginning next month the Carnival ships will be docking at the new pier built by the Hondurans and Carnival Corporation. The official name of the pier is Mahogany Cruise Center."
