Default Carnival revisiting Aruba

From Johns blog today:http://johnhealdsblog.com/2009/10/15/going-dutch/

We will substitute the 8 day Exotic Western Caribbean itinerary (visiting Colon, Panama; Limon, Costa Rica & Belize) with a new 4-port Exotic Southern Caribbean itinerary for departures from October 18, 2010 through March 27, 2011.

The itinerary will visit Grand Turk, La Romana / Casa de Campo, Aruba & Curacao.

We would rotate this new itinerary with the current 3-port 8 Day Exotic Southern Caribbean.

Day Port of Call Arrive Depart
Ft. Lauderdale 4:00 p.m.
1 “Fun Day” At Sea
2 Grand Turk 7:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m.
3 La Romana / Casa De Campo* 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
4 Aruba Noon 10:00 p.m.
5 Curacao 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.
6 “Fun Day” At Sea
7 “Fun Day” At Sea
8 Ft. Lauderdale 8:00 a.m.

Default Wonderful

That is one wonderful cruise. I have been to Curacao and Aruba on a cruise before (1985) and those are two real nice stops. Last year our Turks and Caicos stop was replaced with Nassau because of hurricane damage. I think this itinerary will do well.

Aruba has a huge mall within walking distance of where we docked. Don't know where your dock will be. But, it was very much like an upscale mall in the US, so it did not intrigue me at all. But, there were some street vendors along the way. My DH is a hand drummer and he found a hand carved mahogany 3 Ft. tall drum for around $75, after negotiations. A beautiful piece of work, more art than musical instrument.
In Curacao, we went downtown, just on our own and walked around. There was a small straw market, but tons of stores oriented toward locals, not tourists, which I find more interesting. You can learn a bit about a culture by poking around their grocery and other types of stores. Found some nice cotton short sleeve shirts, button up style, that are perfect for their climate and ours, since we live in FLorida.
