Default Dumb question...... ??????

WHY is the fare on the Conquest higher cost compared to the Splendor...
Each is a 7 day cruise & the Splendor is spanking brand new...

Conquest is $429 for an inside cabin ...
Splendor is as low as $329 for an inside cabin...

In most cases its simply supply and demand. Are both ships doing the same itinary? That is sometimes a factor, do they both leave on the same day of the week Sat or Sunday?? A lot of factors go into fare prices, but sometimes its anybody's guess.

Hi Donna these ships go to different itineraies. Conquest leaves from Galveston and hits the Carribean. Splendor leave out of Long Beach and goes to the Mexican Riveria.

The Splendor has to compete against Mariner of the Seas. So we have the biggest supply of seven day cruise to Mexican Riveria then we have ever had in the past. Also if Conquest gets diverted due to swine flu it can go to Grand Camyan, Key West, the Bahamas etc. If the Splendor gets diverted it can't go to beach ports any more. It goes to San Francisco, Victoria, and Seattle. Then of course the beaches and oceans are very different. The Caribbean has bright blue waters. The Sea of Cortez/Pacific Ocean has dark blue water.

Sea of Cortez/Pacific

Conquest and Ecstasy have both commanded higher prices for years.

Galveston is an excellent port for Carnival.

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the Mexican Riviera. But I would hate for someone to think they will get that Caribbean Blue cruising out of Long Beach. The Things you do get are:

Cliff Divers in Mazatlan

Rock Formation in Cabo San Lucas

Romance in Puerto Vallarta.

It's a bit early, but I am looking into booking a Mexican Riviers cruise for 2011.

Those cliff divers were awesome. We went during a slow period - Sept 09, and had to pay a diver $10.00 to jump. We were the only ones there. Our taxi driver set it up. The diver took pictures and he was in very good shape if you know what I mean.

Carnival is pulling the Elation from Calif, prices are so depressed. Carnival GAVE AWAY, 2 cruise dates, if you joined their Casino club, just pay $40ish taxes pp. Others paid as low as $99

Some say its because Calif's economy is in the tank. Who knows why the demand out of Calif is so weak... Carnival is finally doing something about it.

I paid $469 for a 1A last Sept out of Galveston. go figure
