It depends on the kids and how adventurous they are.

In Cozumel, there are many options, we've done a great dune buggy tour with Cozumel Cruise Excursions and we've also been to Nachi Cocom beach club which is amazing!!!

In Roatan we have been on the zipline, http://roatancruiseexcursions.com/Ro...pyZipline.html and the kids and us adults loved it.

Costa Maya there is a really fun ATV tour Costa Maya ATV

In Belize we have done Xstream Cave Tubing which was excellent and we have also gone to Lamanai Mayan Ruins which was great, we saw crocodiles, hawks, howler monkeys and the ruins were incredible. My kids saw huge toads and blue butterflies

It truly depends on what your family likes to do.

Each port usually has "the thing to do"....

Belize - "the thing to do" is cave-tubing. independent (cave-tubing.com)
Cozumel - "the thing to do" is swimming with the dolphins (ship excusion)
Roatan - "the thing to do" is ziplining with Victor Bodden (independent)
Costa Maya - "the thing to do" is the ruins. If your family is not into that...then there is a huge sea water pool at the port.

If you are looking for a beach day ....

Cozumel - with kids - Paradise Beach no question
It is a free beach resort - no entrance fees - no paying for the use of chairs, tables etc. CLEAN restrooms and changing rooms, outdoor shower also all free. They offer an OPTIONAL $10 wristband - the kids can get it but the parents do not have to- to use all their water/land toys.
A taxi to any beach resort will be $12 - 15 one way (depending on where you dock) and there are more taxis than sand...so don't worry about grabbing a taxi back to the ship.

Roatan - West End Beach - we were just there last month. It was ok...but not as entertaining as Cozumel's Paradise Beach. But you can take the water taxi from there to West End "town" area for $2 a person one way...if you get bored. In Roatan, the taxi driver "stays with you".
You will pay one price PER PERSON for the round trip. You simply tell them when and where to pick you back up. We have done this a couple of times without an issue.

Costa Maya - take the bus into town (the street is the beach)

Belize - we have been there about 4 times...but have never done the beach thing there...so I can't make any recommendations.

Enjoy your cruise.

With boys that age, who would probably like to do something that impresses their friends, I would take them on the mini sub in Cozumel.

You actually go down 100 feet, and the views are unbelieveable.

Check with your excursions on the Carnival web site.
