Default First time booking "solo" on Fantasy.

Up untill now Ive always cruised with family members since im single. I have some money saved up and thought id try something differnt. I booked a cruise on the Fantasy out of Mobile for 5 days Apr 19th 2010. I only need to take one more carnival cruise (this one) untill im elegible to recieve platinum benifits, etc. This one is #9. I booked a Suite so I can still get VIP even though Im paying double. Yea I know. I could of picked a better Itinerary and this one will probably have more "Jerry Springer" types on it. Since its only a 5 hour drive away, Im not complaining. I just got back from a 8 day cruise over Thanksgiving. Anybody tryed the Suites or "over rated" balcony cabins on V deck forward? Mine is V-21. They dont look any bigger then a 6-a balcony on a larger ship. Since Im alone, it really dsosent matter. I like the convenince to the gym and outer decks. THis is on Fantasy BTW.

I hope you have a great cruise. Those older Carnival ships have nice restaurants, pool areas and some pretty funky late night nightclubs. I hope you have a great time and make a lot of new friends.

Cruising single for a guy can be a little bit weird, I have found. But I have a hard time just striking up conversations with strangers.

I suggest you go to our singles message boards and ask a few questions and get to know some people over there. Here is the link:

I guess its normal for women to travel alone..Why do guys always get the bad end of the deal in todays society? Anyhow..Im a shy type, quiet, loner type of person. Im not good at striking up conversations unless the other person starts it..Like i sayed. Ive always traveled with my sister and her family and or my parents. However, I still roam alone around ship except during dinner and shows where I will be with the others. This cruise will be differnt in the sence that im the only one there and can do whatever and whenever without other family telling me. I even picked late seating for dinner since Ive never had the oppertunity before. Yea I will have a good time. Only was asking about the cabins up on the V deck, susposialy smaller suites which I have.

I've done solos on the Fantasy and Ecstasy. I like to do them every once and a while. Usually you will be at a table with other solo cruisers. Also they have a mixer for solo cruisers on the first night. Enjoy the suite!

David...

I've stayed in the cabin next to yours, V23, on the Fantasy. V21 as well as V23 and others are obstructed views with the lifeboats. Your cabin has a better view than the one I stayed in with less obstruction. It sounds like you won't be in the cabin much so you should do fine. For the Fantasy: after staying in our Verandah suite once, we have switched to staying in Ocean Views on the Upper level.... much cheaper. We usually stay in Cat 11 (or whatever they are calling it now) on the larger boats.

Living in Atlanta, I have booked the Fantasy several times and love this boat! Make sure you get to Mobile early as there is not a lot of parking spaces. Usually the Port Security let you in around 10:30 to 11am.

Have Fun!

Kit

I have cruised solo six times and will be going a seventh in 22 short days. I usually get a balcony cabin (Destiny class and up ships) and pay 200%. I have the spa suite on the Splendor and gladly paid 200% as it was my 40th birthday.

Any cruise is good, solo or with family/friends!

Im aware of the views. The agent from Vacations to go recomended this one over the other obstructed view. I just couldnt justify spending more money. Ive always booked balcony cabins on other ships. I did on this one since it was in my price range and to celibrate my (9th) on Carnival. So next time Ill be VIP on any catigory. Wont worry about parking..Ill be on town plenty early to get a spot.

I just got back from cruising solo on the Dream. It was fine. I also was sort of by myself on Fantasy in the past. I cruised with my sister and her husband and we we did not like doing same things so I spent quite a bit of time alone on that one also. Plenty of people to talk with I still enjoyed myself. I love the Fantasy. I have been on the ship 3 times and plan on going again. I may possibly book this one for my b-day cruise that same sailing-so may see you there! Have fun!

Gail,
I found a friend that will share a cabin with me. He said he can only do it during week of 10th Apr. I changed to the Apr 10th sailing. It cost a little more but not much. Ill be in cabin V-9..Hopefully..Not sure if your schedule allows it. Unless you change I wont see you..If you do, then you cant miss me..I will be the ONLY guy wearing a Kilt..

Hey Gail,
This is the latest update. It seems like I keep jumping back ond forth on Dates. My cabinmate was able to go on the 19th Apr. So we are going on the Apr 19 sailing instead of 10th. If you decide to go on this sailing (19 Apr 2010), Ill see you there.
