Default Hotels in New Orleans cruise port area?

Can anyone tell me of a good/reasonable hotel in New Orleans area with 20 minutes of port and not in the Downtown area? We have stayed at one off the 2nd Sliddell exit but can not remember the name of the hotel. Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Superdome http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us/...lsearchresults

Had no issues there. Nice room.

There is this great motel that is in old cottage houses that is a few blocks from the french market. I live about 3 hours from N.O. and its where i stay when im down there. It is close enough to walk to all the happenings of the french Qurater but still tucked away enough to get away. They dont advertise much but have a web site. U cant go wrong with the Old Town INN.

Slidell has a Holiday Inn (but it will be more like 30ish minutes from the dock). We have not stayed there since Katrina...but stayed there many times before.

Also...a lot futher out...but just a suggestion. We stayed at a Hampton Inn in McComb (if you happen to be driving down I-55 South). Very nice, inexpensive hotel. We felt safe. It is about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from the port.

We are staying in Gulfport (visiting friends) before our Triumph cruise next Monday. That is also about 1 1/2 hours from the port. We will drive over that morning...

I stayed at the Drury Inn on the corner of Poydras between Charles St. and Carondolet. It's just outside the French Quarter and if you go straight down Poydras, you're at the dock.

I too will be on the Triumph 1-4-10!! I am very excited since this will be my 10th Carnival and now have reached the Platinum level This is our first trip on Triumph but 3rd sailing out of New Orleans. We usually stay in Sliddell but wanted to get closer this time. There is a Super 8 about 5 miles from the port that has mixed reviews on Tripadvisor. Have a great time on your cruise!

We stayed at the Drury to get the free cruise parking.

If you just want a great deal, without cruise parking, there are some great rates, in the $50s for a 3 star in French Qtr, and a hotel by the airport which is the Radisson.

check on betterbidding.com for the names of the hotels.
