Default If I owned Carnival, I'd

If I owned Carnival, I'd bring back the RED PUNCH! Carpets be dammed, the red punch was GREAT, and the carpets can be cleaned. Also, I'd see to it that the "Adults Only" rules in specific Hot Tubs, and Pools are enforced, and I'd hire "SkyMaster" to be the "secret cruiser" and he'd sail all the ships and check to make sure that the customer service, food, and entertainment are all up to my high standards.
What would you do, if you owned Carnival?

If I owned Carnival I would create larger areas to stage dismbarkation (to ports) in and find a way to organize them accordingly. I ditto the adults ony areas, I can't wait to see them for myself on the Fantasy class ships, hope they come fleetwide soon!

Not many people I know, are still wearing the same clothes or hairstyle from 20/30 years ago, so, I think that for The Dream class ships, Carnival should have instigated some new interior designs. I know people love the Vegas style, and, for the most part I am a fan as well...It's upbeat,and colorful, but this class was the perfect stepping stone, for Joe Farcus, to begin a new creative chapter in Carnival style....jmho

If I owned Carnival, I'd sell it all except one Fantasy class ship, which I'd completely re-do and take my hundreds of millions and my ship and take friends, relatives, poor folks, veterans, needy kids, etc. that otherwise couldn't cruise and cruise the world forever!! :-D :-D

If I owned Carnival, I would start and lead a new travel industry trend of charging by the person, not by the cabin/room, so more people who do not have a travel companion could afford to cruise or to cruise more often. :o :o :o

If I owned Carnival every ship fleet wide would be smoke free.

If I ran Carnival I would not charge solo travellers 200% of the fare for a balcony cabin or a suite. Each cruise would allow between 10 and 20 solo passngers to choose a cabin in each category (balcony, OV, and inside) for solo travellers. That many cabins (up to 60) is fair and they can still make a profit by charging 10-25% more for 3rd/4th passenger!

No guarantee cabins would be upgraded free to a suite! Upgrades should be done by how much one paid for their cruise or how early they booked. Call and give the passenger the option for a free suite upgrade.

Free upgrades should be done for those that are frequent (2 or more a year) cruisers or on their PLATINUM cruise!!!!!!!

Boarding--VIP's first, disabled/mobility issues next, and then everyone else and that includes weddings and groups. If you booked a suite or are platinum, you deserve to be on first because you paid big $$ or are loyal to Carnival. Remember, many of those group people have cheaper low deck OV, or inside cabins and perhaps some blaconies.

Non-smoking casino would be nice. Non-smoking piano bar would be a must--too many times I don't go in because of the blue haze of cigarette smoke....

Ports--certain ports need more time and other ports need less. More time in Belize (an extra 2 hours to accommodate Lamanai tours) is a must!

Carnival must buy their own private island in the Bahamas and include it on the East/West routes. They can drop Cozumel and Costa Maya in favour of a private island.

Expand the Cloud 9 spa idea to ALL Conquest class ships and have all of Deck 10 and 11 as NON-SMOKING decks. They can offer the spa samplers and change the decor. They can offer up up to 25% off for X number of spa treatments and then 10% for others in place of a thalasso pool

Fruit punch is nice, but Id like to see the apple and passion/guava juice available all day.

I'd like to see one more ship with 8 day and at least one with a 9 or 10 day sailing (to Aruba from Miami).

Okay for real if I owned Carnival I would set up a Mexican/Alaskan cruise out of San Francisco there is nothing quite like cruising under the Golden Gate Bridge. I would add more Hawaiian cruises. Bring in the Carnival Splendor to do a couple of these.

Fire and Ice baby. Run the Splendor from San Francisco on an Alaskan cruise that ends in Vancouver than run a back to back cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii ending in Oahu. I would go into major debt for that experience.

I do still want the swim up bar in the adults only pool and the red fruit punch. Also good selection of Karaoke songs on all ships. Get rid of that horrible diet pumpkin pie, the chef had to be drunk when he came up with that recipe. Make the T-pool on Splendor and Dream no charge; you can make up the money at the swim up bar.

If I owned Carnival I would have nothing going on , on the serenity deck other then a place to relax. No margarita night no anything! When I was on Inspiration the serenity deck had something going on every night. All the chairs were pushed together so tables could be set up. I was disappointed when I couldn’t lay on the chairs looking out at the ocean and up at the stars at night.

If I owned Carnival, Id move the company to the modern age. Their site stinks, you have to snail mail in any OBC they give to you if you wrote, future credit certificates, etc. You should be able to track these things by the cert #, and they shouldnt need the original to verify them in this day and age.

Their compute site should work as well as their competitors.

No Smoking anywhere.

No kids in hot tubs - ever.

Advertise well in advance if the cruise you want to book has also been booked by rather large groups that just seem to swarm like vultures and take over the ship. This way you can decide whether you want to book or not.

On our last cruise aboard "Triumph" we had a VERY large group of "Red Hat Ladies". What a HOOT these gals were. Never had so much fun with a group aboard before, (with the possible exception of the "cross dressers" group aboard "Miracle" one time.) It would be nice to know what groups are going to be aboard though. We've never, in over 100 cruises, had a group that ruined our cruise. More often than not they're fun. ;-)

Katlady--I second that thought about Splendor and Alaska/hawaii..They need to expand the west coast to include something different. I also agree Vancouver should get more sailings to Alaska and Hawaii!!!!! BIgger ship too!

They should also have the fantasy class ship over to La Paz more often. If there are any other ports on the Sea of Cortez they should check out adding these stops to. The Sea of Cortez is much nice then the Pacific Ocean for swimming. Cabo San Lucas is right at the tip and has both a Pacific Ocean and a Sea of Cortez side. So possible ports include: Loreto, Isla Espiritu Santo, Los Islotes, Isla Partida, and La Paz.
Here is the beach at La Paz (my hubby took this picture)

Here is the beach at Mazaltan (the Pacific Ocean is much rougher)

BTW Holland America does this cruise out of San Diego. The ports are:
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Loreto, Mexico;
Guayamas, Mexico;
Topolobampo, Mexico;
Mazatlan, Mexico;
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico;

Why can't Carnival do this cruise?

Make all parents that let their kids run wild and unsupervised get off the ship at the first opportunity along with their kids...

Skymaster. Which week was this cruise that the "cross dressers" were on? Was it over Thanksgiving 2009? If so, I noticed the same cross dresser (1) Trans gender male that stayed around the adult area pool during days. The other person was ME wearing a KILT..Its a peice of legal mens clothing. If I wanted to "cross dress" I would look more like the trans gender person.

I think it was the second week of December, '08. Not absolutely sure, and the lovely Mrs. Jones isn't here to ask. There was a group of about 15 of 'em, and they were aboard with their wives, and girlfriends! Most of them seemed to be 6'5" or so, and looked "striking" in their evening gowns etc. They stayed in drag almost the entire cruise, but dressed in mens clothing when they went ashore on the islands. They were a lot of fun, and really enjoyed their cruise. Lots of fun talking to them once you got over the initial shock.

Even Holland America only does that Sea of Cortes itinerary a few times every year. I agree it would be an EXCELLENT idea for the cruise lines to develop new Mexico ports - there is virtually nothing to do in Mazatlan, for example, and that is one reason why people stopped going there.

Puerto Vallarta has a beautiful beach right off the ship but I when i was just there on Sapphire princess I dodn't notice many people even going to it.

Cabo now has the best Mexican port of call there is - the shopping is varied and bountiful with modern shops including some of the best Mexican artists. It is now what Puerto Vallarta used to be in the 1980s, a destination for rich Americans.

I have yet to sail in the Sea of Cortes.

However - the BEST Mexican itinerary of all (and no one mentioned it) is the 8-day cruise out of San Diego on Spirit down to Acapulco. Acapulco is a major city with real attractions and great beaches outside the city. The ports are NOT mazatln and PV. they are Manzanillio and Ixtapa. I admit I have not been to either ofthose in a very long time, but Ixtapa was just starting to grow when I was there. It looked like it had real potential but I don't know what may have happened.

I have noticed the 8 day cruise and we did look at it when booked. But we found a better deal on the Splendor. We have been to Cabo twice, but have only been to Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta once. The only Sea of Cortez stop I have been to is La Paz and I really enjoyed the beach there. Cabo was nice, but crowded. La Paz had smooth peaceful ocean and very few people. It was so nice.

My Carnival ship would be smoke free and adults only area rules enforced-oh and enforce that the parents should watch their kids better. I love kids but some kids are just dumped and not watched until time to leave the ship.

I would absolutely enforce rules already in effect. Additionally I would have a smokers only deck where they could enjoy themselves without harassment from anyone. Smokers would be forbidden from smoking anywhere else on the ship and non-smokers would only be permitted on the smokers deck when accompanied by a smoker. I would search for new ports of call and steam faster , rather dally around the sea , Nassau and freeport would be visited less frequently. I am not a smoker, however I believe they also have some rights.
