Default Smoking/ non smoking areas

Ive noticed on several ships that they only allow smoking on one side of ship and not other..Does that apply to private balcony cabins as well? If so I need to pay attention and book a balcony on side that is NOT smoking..

Does not apply to private balcony cabins. Public areas only.

I was on liberty the end of November and there was smoking almost every place except the main theater and dining areas. We could smell it in the hallways outside the cabins, and we couldn't really go into the lounges because of the amount of smoke. I won't sail on carnival again until they update there smoking policies.

It's better on RCCL.

On Inspiration this past December there were very few smoking areas. It's fine by me but my friends smoked but they were ok with it.

On Carnival, with the exception of the Spa Cabins, you are allowed to smoke in the cabin, and on the balcony.

One side of the outside decks is designated smoking, and the MAJORITY of the lounges are NON smoking.
- smoking allowed in piano bar
- casino
- disco
-cigar bar
the rest is non smoking.

I noticed on Miracle in the Frankensten Disco, smoking is only allowed in the "Upper level". The Lower half is the dance floor and additional seating, but smoking not allowed. The Upper half is where you walk in from the main enterance.

Updating is one thing. Enforcing is another.

Kids are not allowed in the hot tubs but there is little to no enforcment of the rule.

Piano Bar and Disco were mainly what we wanted to use, but there was too much smoke. Also, you had to go though the cigar lounge to check E-Mail. We are doing an Avalon waterways river cruise in may for our honeymoon. I like the fact that they only allow smoking outside. I am open to any suggestion for big boat cruise lines that have more restrictive smoking policies.

Just got off the pride. Almost the entire ship was smoking friendly. Ashtrays everywhere. The only place where smoking was not permitted was dining room, show lounge and 1 side of the outside deck which didn't make any sense to me. I can't think of one indoor lounge that didn't have ashtrays. That surprised me. The casino was the smokiest as can be expected.

The Freedom will probably be our last Carnival cruise. We were on the Victory a few years ago and I didn't notice a lot of smoke, but the last two carnival were very bad. RCCL was great, didn't feel overwhelmed with it at all. Carnival needs to have another non-smoking cruise again, or at least have a few with Celebrity or RCCL rules...

To start leave the poor smokers alone... they pay more taxes than
any one.. every one should be able to do what they want its their
life and their vacation too.
I have been on the liberty 5 times and never smelled smoke in the
halls by the rooms unless some one was smoking in there cabin and
opened the door.. not a big deal.
there are several of the bars and the casino that you can smoke in
but for the rest of the ship there is no smoking.. pretty much. and
only at the pool by the water slide the other end is smoke free. and
besides its out side.
I dont smoke so I would have noticed if it was that bad.
to say that you are not going on a carnival cruise because people can do
what they like such as the smoking then your going to miss out on a
lot of fun... thats like saying I would not go on a carnival cruise if they let ugly people go..
smoking is a bad habit but so is drinking.. they both will kill you but thats
a person choice.. not some one else to tell you....

Carnival is the Best.....

I didn't mean to offend anyone, I just can't handle the smoke. It hurts my eyes, lungs, just can't take it. Both of my parents smoked growning up, so did a lot of others in those days, but never could get use to it..
I love carnival, but just wish they would limit smoking areas...

I agree with you Catty. Nothing against smokers but I prefer fresh air.
