Book a cruise on a cruise

A friend of my wife told her that if you book a cruise while on a cruise that you get a discount of $100 pluse a ship credit of $100.

Have any of you done this?

Can't answer for Carnival . We just booked two future cruise credits for
Princess . They are $100 deposit/person (except World Cruise) and
an onboard credit amount depends on cabin cat and length of cruise.

We got a certificate for a future cruise while we were on the Splendor last June. Basically you pay $100 while on the cruise and when you book, you get $100 applied to the cruise. We used ours to apply to the deposit when we booked our cruise last month for the June cruise. We needed a $400 deposit and only had to pay $300. We used our "credit" to apply. Our certificate says, "You pick the cruise and we'll apply your intial deposit and -- depending on the length of your cruise -- up to $200* per stateroom onboard credit. (We are taking a 5 day cruise in June and we are getting a $50 onboard credit.) If you are going to take another cruise, you might as well do it, because you do get an onboard credit.
