It's too bad the port authority can't get their act together and build the new cruise ship terminal at Mayport which is so much closer to the ocean. Also I would like to see a Jax to Bermuda seven day cruise.

Don't listen to SB. You will have a fantastic time on your cruise!! Yes alcoholic drinks can get pricey, but you can check your Carnival Funtimes for daily drink specials. Also, you can get free drinks at the "fun farewell" party at the end of your cruise. The restaraunts are free on the Fascination, and they have very good food and great service. Of course there is a gratuity added onto your drinks, but if you were to drink at a bar on land you would also tip your waiter/bartender. We are looking at booking our 5th Carnival cruise once my husband returns from his deployment, we are 25/27 and we think cruising is the best way to vacation. So once again, don't pay any attention to SB.

We don't drink alcohol so that is not a problem for us. We can have just as much fun as anyone who does. We are also bringing our kids(6,4).

We don't drink much, usually my husband will have a couple beers and I will have one or two "fruity" drinks with dinner or at the casino but that is all we really partake in, except at the fun farewell...we take advantage of it. Your kids will LOVE Camp Carnival, we had many kids on our last cruise and only saw them a few times, either poolside with the CC staff or with their parents at night. I was a "cruising kid" and loved it from the start, I begged my parents to take more cruises. What you also should know is they charge for soft drinks, my advice, and I think others will agree, is to buy the soft drink card, I believe they are $30.00, this allows you and your family to buy soft drinks without putting too much on your sail and sign card, and it keeps track of how many soft drinks you have consumed. You can also bring a small amount of beverages (non-alcoholic) onboard the day you embark, we did not bring any, but we saw many people carrying on bottles of water and soda. I also have to warn you that unless you booked a suite you will only have a shower in your stateroom, so keep that in mind with your children, our son (3) is terrified of taking a shower, but loves the sprinklers at water parks, go figure. Good Luck and if you have any questions feel free to lay them on us!!!

Wow Fascination looks great! I really like those new palm trees Carnival is using on the pool deck. Looks very real!

o anyone know how much it cost to go "The Dig" at the Atlantis Hotel, if you purchase it at the Hotel not through Carnival? Adult and children prices

I found this online..we so enjoyed it when we visited Atlantis.

The Dig Tours & Admission Fee

Visiting Cruise Ship Passengers
One-hour Dig Tours are available to non-Atlantis guests and cruise ship passengers. The admission fee is approximately $29 per person; $21 for ages 3-11; and free for under 3. The fee also includes walking access to other areas of the resort's tropical marine habitat, home to over 200 species of live animals in 11 exhibit lagoons and pools.
Note: The fee does NOT include access to Atlantis Water Rides, Pools and Beaches.

I called the Atlantis today, to verify the pricing for The Dig....My emails, and, call to the site I quoted, were not returned, so, let me update the info Atlantis gave me. Adults $35.00
Kids 4-12 $25.00....under 3, free w/adult

These tickets can be purchased downstairs at the Royal Lobby, & cannot be purchased prior to arrival at the hotel.

Thanks Trip, I think it's "strange" that the prices aren't posted on their website. They don't have to sell tickets there, but it would be nice to have an idea of the cost.

Fern, I find it a strange sales tactic to not disclose pricing. I think knowing before you go, or, buy anything is good busines, but that's just me...;( Not getting a call back from a supposedly reputable website sends up red flags too....

It's time for The Jacksonville Port Authority to take action and start building a new permanent cruise port. Savannah, GA is conducting a feasibility study to build a cruise terminal in order to attract the Fascination away from Jax. Jacksonville, like many cities in America, has lost many, many jobs these past several years. The Port Authority has bought the land needed at a site much closer to the ocean than where the temporary cruise port is now located. This means no passing under a bridge so the largest ships could dock in Jax. The new site would also provide a short 15 minute cruise to the ocean. The port authority needs to issue bonds and start building the new cruise terminal before someone else steps up and we loose our ship.

I agree 100% last year on the Fascination I thought we would never see the ocean. From what I hear New Orleans is even farther. New ultra modern cruise ships with nearly twice as many passengers would be a boom to the local economy with people flying in early and staying after the cruise.
