Default Miracle Balcony Dividers - Open?

Another couple and ourselves are booked on Miracle in November and we intentionally booked rooms side-by-side so we could open the balcony divider between them and share one larger balcony. They have since been doing a lot of reading on the Carnival site and found that these dividers do not open on Miracle? Figured I would ask here because it also says that the dividers open on Valor, but do NOT open on Liberty. I find this strange because these are esentially identical ships no?

Here's Carnival's link

Frequently Asked Questions

Again, does anyone know for sure of the dividers open on Miracle or not?

Thanx,
Krunch

Default Miracle Balcony Dividers

We were on the Miracle this past August. Yes, the balcony dividers can be opened. You Must go to the Guest Relations desk and request that this be done. The Miracle balconies require a special clamp to hold them open and only the Maintenance Department can install it. They did it for us and it was nice to have the double space.

Thanx!

This sounds promising! Can you comment on how the actual divider itself opens? I think I found something on another forum that basically says it is one solid swinging piece that once opened will obstruct one of the cabin patio doors. Basically you have to move it out of the way I guess from one cabin door everytime you go out on the patio? Or is it a folding divider of sorts? Basically, is it in the way of anything once opened? Please describe.

Thanx,
Krunch

Also, was there any charge to have this done?

Thanx,

i have had the balcony divider opened on the Miracle. there is no charge to have this done.it is a large door that swings open to one side only.it doesn't fold up, and it does block one of the cabin's window.

EXCELLENT! I'll put up with an obstructed view from the window. If I want to see the view, I'll step out onto the patio itself. No biggie, but the expanded patio, even if shared by 4 will be great I'm sure.

On the Miracle I know from experience this is correct information but actually only correct. The dividers all swing only one direction. Because the layout of the cabins alternate, what the divider covers alternates. On half of the cabins the divider blocks one of the cabin doors and has no bracket it keep it open. On the other half of the cabins the divider blocks the window but does have a bracket to keep it open.

During really rough seas the dividers will all be locked shut again. On a 7 day cruise they will clean the balconies one day and will go through and shut all the dividers again. After either of these events you will need to call the pursers desk and arrange for your divider to be opened again. Sometimes your cabin steward can make it happen but not always.

Thanx for the additional info. We are on an 8 days cruise so I guess ours might be closed again 1/2 way through the cruise.

2 questions, if there's a 50/50 shot of having 2 cabins where the divider will block the door, does one of us only have access now to the patio via the other's room? You say when this happens, there is no bracket, so I assume that's it's movable when this happens, but yet, if it's a little windy, or a little rough, is this divider just flapping off the wall with no bracket?

the divider does not block the door just the window - we have been on an 8 day Miracle 2008 and 2009 and have not had divider shut for cleaning. Only pain in the you know what is day before you leave the ship they shut the divider that afternoon.

On our balcony on the Miracle the open divider blocked the door to our cabin. When we were not using the balcony it would flap so we blocked it shut with a chair. When we used the balcony blocked it open with the same chair. We then had to move the chair and the divider to go into the cabin.

Creative use of a bungee cord would help but the divider didn't have a great place to attach one.

Hmmmm....

I wonder if the mixed input on this topic is due to the balcony size itself. I know we have a slightly exteneded balcony for our rooms, this may imply a longer divider that could potentially obstruct doors / windows more than a divider on a shorter balcony. Hopefully we were lucky enough to book our two rooms so the beds in each room are back-to-back, this would make the patio doors the furthest from an open divider, and maybe only obstruct the window.

Oh well, Guess I'll find out in 9 MONTHS

You may be right. We did have extended balconies in those cabins. They were inset a little from the cabins at the ends so the balconies extended about 8-12 inches.
