I'll be perfectly honest and say I haven't sailed either ship, however I've been doing some research myself and what I have found is that pretty much any Carnival ship is a much better deal financially than any Royal Caribbean ship.
In addition to that, I find the Oasis WAY too big, not only the size of the ship, but the number of passengers to battle every day would be too much for me. I much prefer a smaller ship.
Just a couple of points to think about....

check this out from our review forum...

Carnival Conquest Ship Review; food, entertainment, staterooms, itinerary and service.

When I cut and pasted this, it showed as the Dream, but in preview, it shows the Conquest....I checked it,and it is the Dream review..I don't know why the technical error...so click and read

We sailed the 9 day in December on the Dream....my good friend just got off the Oasis last week.

We had a good time. She had a good time.

It is really WHAT you want to do on a cruise.

If you want all the gimmicks...then Oasis is for you. If you want more of a "cruise" then it is the Dream.

If you have sailed on a Carnival ship before...the Dream is just an expanded version of the Conquest class.

They added a lanai and an additional Spa area with Thalasso pool that costs extra IF you don't book a Spa cabin.

For a Caribbean cruise...the Dream is as large as I care to go.

Now if I was doing a Trans Atlantic...a little larger would be fine.

It is all about personal preference....neither is "better" just different.

I have cruised on the Dream a few months ago..and most likely will be there again in May. I loved the ship but don't think I would care for one any bigger than the dream. Dream is like 133k tonnage and I believe the Oasis is 228k tonnage. The embarkation and disembarkation would also take a lot longer. The Oasis (which I have not been on but just read a lot of info about has lots more physical activities but you will never be bored on Carnival (unless you want to be!).

Was on the Dream Feb 6 to Feb 13. A great ship. We had a great time. Did not feel the lines were to long. Did not have to wait for the elevators for very long. Did not smell anything. We really had a great time. The only suggestion I would make is to have better music out on the lido deck during the day.

We spend 28 consecutive days on Carnival Dream and loved it. Would do again in a heartbeat. Experienced very little of what others have complained about and certainly nothing that would offset the pleasures of the ship.

Highly recommend the Cove Balconies.
