Default Sail Away Parties gone?

Am I just sailing on the wrong Carnival ships or did the sail away parties go away? The last several cruises did not have sail away parties. We really enjoy that little celebration...just seems like it really kicks the good times off. Disney ships have a big sail away party...on the last Dream cruise in December we could hear them well after the their ship went past us (still in port). RC also does a sail away and a huge deck party one of the cruise nights. Carnival ships have a deck party but the last few only lasted about 40-45 minutes (the part that the crew was interactive with the passengers). What they do during the deck party is great..but too short.

You and I must the be sailing on the same ships! We have noticed no more fanfare when we left port the last 2 times we sailed away. I remember coming out of MIA on the Sensation back in 1998...we had a noise contest with the Imagination as we sailed past, they blared the horns and everything. We also had a HUGE deck party coming out of SJU also, I remember it lasting hours after we left. It is so sad that Carnival seems to be losing its' spunk...I miss the sail away with the loud music and the fanfare. However, I did notice the Esctasy was docked next to us in CZM this last time and when they left I could hear music and the captain blared the horn several times prior to pushing off...maybe he is just "old school" but I loved it and was jealous I was not on that ship. I hope NCL has brought life back into the industry, just booked a girlfriends' cruise on them for the end of November.

Read and post cruise reviews
