Default Need help planning next cruise

Have you sailed on the Freedom 8 day to Panama? Since there is only 1 sailing per month, I am wondering if this isn't a popular route. We are planning our next cruise and need input. What did you like about it and what didn't you like?

Thanks,
AKcruiser

I did that route when Carnival Liberty was doing it. I loved it. Costa Rica was great fun. We did white water rafting. Panama was interesting. I took the city tour and do not recommend it. I suggest the train crossing. Heard many favorable comments on that tour. We had Cozumel instead of Costa Maya due to a hurricane. Cozumel was fun as always.

I did a similar cruise on Princess. I found that the train trip is pretty underwhelming. You travel at 50 - 70 mph and really have little chance to see the canal at that speed and the bus tour at the end was not too exciting.

I suggest doing a "Sea to Sea" canal tour where you take a smaller boat through the canal. You experience the canal and have a chance to see it up close and personal. Other than the canal there isn't too much to do in Colon.

Puerto Limon I suggest getting a taxi and getting out of town and tour the coast. It is gorgeous and I suggest going to Johnny Dixon's beach restaurant. You can have a wonderful lunch and a beautiful beach is right there.

There is a lot to do in Cozumel. You can dive, snorkel, hit the beach bars or just shop.

Have a wonderful cruise!

Hi AKcruiser, I don't know how much time you have for a cruise, but since you'll be flying a long distance I'd suggest you look into a full Panama Canal transit cruise. They're usually 2 weeks and several cruise lines offer them. (We're partial to Princess, but there are others.)

Really, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having a bad Panama Canal (round trip or full transit) cruise , so I think you'll enjoy whichever you choose!

We did the Panama Canal 10 day on Princess last December and had a ball. I suggest the rain forest canopy tour in Panama, it was great and we did the bus tour to San Jose in Costa Rica which really gave us a great view of Costa Rica. I didnt care for Cartagena Columbia and wouldn't go back there again though!
