Default first cruise- going on Carnival Pride

So, let me start by saying I am a Disney junkie who is married 11 years to someone who is not. We decided a cruise would be best (since we love to eat and have not been anywhere except disney land/world) Chose the Pride because it sails out of Baltimore. I have 2 daughters, ages 13 and 9, and they are excited about the children's areas. i have a few questions that i can't seem to find any answers to...if anyone could provide answers, I would appreciate it. MODS, if this should be broken into different posts, please let me know.
1. How early should I get to the harbor? The ship leaves at 5.30. The hotel has a shuttle that runs at 12.30. That seems very early to me.
2. excursions. we want to go to atlantis, but online says it is a 3 hour excursion. this is a waterpark...and only 3 hours? that's 3 rides if the lines are long.
3. we are very casual people (jeans and t-shirts) and it's January, which means play off season for football...is a cruise right for us?
4. A questions from the kids...are there mocktails or smoothies available for them
5. what is the age limit for bingo on board. we each want to do something with just one adult and each child separatly, my oldest simply wants to play bingo with me.

thanks so much!!!
Kim

I will only address the first question as there are others here who know better the answers to the other questions.

1230 is not too early to arrive. You have to go thru registration etc which can take time. Be sure you have all the documents you need for the trip. Passports, ID's etc.
Be sure you fill out the Funpass online with Carnival ahead of time. This will speed up your getting on the ship.

Hi Kim, welcome to CruiseMates! I'll answer your questions as best as I can, but other's who've cruised Carnival recently can do better .
1. 12:30 is a good time to arrive at the ship. Remember that you're paying for that day and you should enjoy as much of it as you can! Your cabin may not be ready, but you can eat and if you pack your swim suits in your carry-on you can swim, too.

2. I'm not too familiar with Atlantis, but from what I understand the beach and ocean facilities aren't like "rides" at Disney. If you pay for an excursion there you should be able to take advantage of everything they offer.

3. On Carnival you'll be fine in nice jeans (no holes, etc.). You may or may not be able to watch the playoffs. They try, but it really depends on what they're able to pick up. If football is very important to you, booking at another time would be better.

4. Again, I haven't experienced it, but I think smoothies are available. I'm not sure if they're included or cost extra

5. I think the age to play is 21, but if you're playing with your child and they win (yay ), you have to "pretend" it was your card. Be aware that Bingo is expensive.

Your children are at great ages for Camp Carnival. You may have to "drag" them out to spend time with you !

Have a wonderful cruise!

I can answer Questiion #5 regarding Bingo. Yes, any age can play bingo. My 9 year old granddaughter just loves bingo. On the Miracle last August, we went to practically every game. The cost was around $20 for a card that had 3 games on it. Sometimes they have morning bingo, afternoon bingo and bingo in the theater just before the nightly shows. Have fun.
