Default Decorating cabin doors

I am curious as to how many cruisers decorate their cabin doors?

On my last several cruises I have decorated my cabin door. It certainly makes finding "home" a lot easier. It's also a conversation starter as I receive many positive comments as people pass while I'm entering or exiting.

I only use double sided tape and I make it a point to remove ALL decorations and ALL tape before I disembark the ship. There is no damage to the door surface or any mess for the steward to have to clean up.

Do you have any pictures to give an idea of the kinds of decorations you use?

A lot of people do it during Christmas. Looks great!

A lot of groups do it as well. We're going to have a contest on our Splendor group cruise for best decorated cabin door. It makes for a fun activity.

Years ago I started taking my grandson on cruises and decorated my stateroom door to make it easier for him to find our room. Last week on the Dream, I decorated my door with a pirate theme and got lots of positive comments. I bought "Sticky Tack" at Wal-mart...it is a reusable adhesive that you soften between your fingers and has the consistency of putty, it comes off easier than tape and leaves no residue on the door or your product. I purchased my 4 large pirate heads and 4 large playing cards from Windy City Novelties (very inexpensive).

When we cruised aboard the Star Princess, It was our 12th year wedding anniversary. The ships staff placed a very nice "Happy Anniversary" sign along with some ballons and ribbons on the outside of our cabin door. That was a wonderful suprise. Our Travel Agent sent us a very good bottle of champagne with a card.

I visited my local 'party store' where they have a whole section of Caribbean themed decorations and Jimmy Buffet themed decorations. I purchased colorful tropical fish, parrots, hibiscus flowers, palm trees, ect. My cruise in ten days is to the Eastern Caribbean so I'm focusing on a Caribbean themed door.

Thanks for the heads up on the "Sticky Tacky" at Wal-Mart. Looks like another trip to the store.

Many people decorate their doors, especially during holidays. We cruised over Thanksgiving one year and put up the appropriate decorations. We've seen many doors decorated as Christmas packages and Chanukah gifts, too.

I agree with several other poster's who said it makes the cabin easier to find for children (and, maybe, for adults ).

Generally, we don't put anything on our door, but you never know !

bytheboard, as long as you don't leave anything for the Room Steward to clean up (and you don't), I'd say go for it!

Remember that whatever you put on your door might "migrate" to another door , so check your cabin number before you try to go in!

A nice decoration on the cabin door does make it easier to find your cabin and can add to the fun of the cruise.

I personally don't like it when people decorate their balcony with lights. On a Princess cruise the couple next door put bright, pulsating Christmas lights on their balcony. The brightness and flickering drove us crazy after a while. After a couple of days my husband asked them to turn them off after eleven o'clock. They didn't seem happy with the request but they did turn them off. It was nice to go to sleep without the lights from outside making us feel like we were in a cheap motel.

There will be 29 Funseekers on the Liberty May1-May8

We have 13 cabins and everyone of them will have a door banner/poster on the cabin door.
This year we are going with the Pittsburgh Pens blue!
As you can see, we are from Pittsburgh.

We only have 7 days

We always bring a magnet for our door (cabin doors are magnetic), usually a Canada flag, or in the case of group cruises, a banner or sign for that particular group (CM has one available to download).
We also bring a Canada flag windsock to hang from our balcony, and we can spot our room from the ground while in port....

I decorated my door for a Halloween cruise once. It was so much fun and it looked great!

I do business with Vista Print several times throughout the year, and I am almost always able to add a free 7 x 9 car magnet to my order. Since we are doing group cruises every year, I now have a collection for our group.

During our last Halloween cruise there were all kinds of door decorations. We keep it simple, but it does help to find "home."

This was my cabin door on my recent Liberty voyage. My neighbors thanked me as it made their life easier finding their cabin. I used sticky tacky adhesive and it was easy for me to remove leaving no mess for the steward to clean.

I have never decorated my cabin door, but I have left a message pad on the door for people cruising with me. This way when they get back to their cabin and wonder where I am, they can read my message that may say going to the casino, or on the lido deck ect. I like the idea of decorating the door. I think I will do that with a note pad the next time I cruise.

I love 2 decorate my cabin door. I've done it on every cruise (only about 10), and it is so awesome getting all those compliments!! I usually give the decorations to our steward after we take it all down. (they always want them) I also decorate the inside of our cabin. I also use "decor" that is easily removed with leaving any damage.

I love to see decorated doors! I've noticed that flip flops are popular decorations of late.

Welcome to Cruisemates, I hope to see you around the message boards.

Funny, but in all my years of cruising, I've never noticed anyone decorating their cabin doors. We just cruised over Thanksgiving and I didn't note a single door decorated, but I think the idea is cool and would definetely consider doing it if I cruised over Christmas and of course on my favorite holiday--Halloween.

Default Triumph doors

Hello, Next week I'll be cruising out of New Orleans! I like to decorate our door. Does anyone know if the the gel-like stickies will adhere to the Triumph doors or should I bring a lite sticky tape?
