We leave May 30th on our first cruise. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. I love reading all the info and helpful suggestions that are posted on here. I feel like I am joining a great new family. When we get back, I will let you know how MUCH we liked it I am sure.
Congratulations on your first cruise. Welcome to CruiseMates!! You are right you are joining a great family. CruiseMates is full of fun, friendly people. We look forward to reading about how you loved your first cruise. Again, Welcome Aboard.

The anticipation is the second best thing about cruising. The first is actually doing it. Enjoy the anticipation and enjoy the cruise. You will find that it passes too quickly and you will need to book another ASAP. It took a whole six days for me to book my second cruise and I haven't stopped yet.
Take care,
Mike

Congrats! We're first time cruisers as well and we board May 10th. I'm really excited too and we've found so much helpful information on here that I know will help us enjoy our trip to the max.
You will love it. Was on the Conquest for my first cruise in March. I already have a Mexican Riviera booked for October. It's just too easy to get hooked. The only problem is that the cruise speeds right by and before you know it, it's back to reality. Have a good time.
Just to throw my own 2 cents in, I have found cruising very addictive. I LOVED our first cruise in 2008. I would have booked a 2009 cruise but my oldest daughter got married that year, which meant so much for vacation money. But, I have our second cruise booked for June on the Pride and our third cruise already booked for August 2011 on the Freedom. I so can't wait. And, just equally addictive is going to cruisemates, but not just every day, but several times everyday, just to see the questions/comments posted. I have learned a lot about the cruising procees from this site, found a wonder TA to help me with me second/third bookings from this site and feel like I know many people from this site just by reading their posts (it amazes me on how knowledgeable some of you are, I can only hope to get all your experience). Anyway, anticipation is part of the fun (its like being a kid waiting for Christmas morning), so just enjoy.
Conquest is a great ship for your 1st cruise..you do know you will not sleep the night before the cruise, so make sure you have everything packed and ready to go and hopefully unless you live within driving range, go in a day early
don't over schedule yourself once on the ship..relax have fun and welcome to cruisemates
Congratulations on your first cruise, we still get all excited even now and 4 cruises later. To us it seems like the first time each time we take a cruise. Enjoy your trip.

Please go with an open mind & don't expect too much, people who love things tend to think that everyone will feel the same & sometimes over do what they describe & recommend. You will have a wonderful time but it is just a nice hotel that moves, like life you will meet some really nice people & some real stinkers too!!

I agree. Some of the most interesting conversations have been with people on cruise ships. It may have started out with talking about the weather but lead into great discussions about science, politics, current events and technology.
Take care,
Mike

We have an interesting tradition here - you tell us how you expect the cruise to be, and then you come back afterwards and tell us what surprised you the most.
And welcome to our world

To remember the first Cruise.. What a great time. Went blind and
just went along with the crowd. We had the time of our life. Now I still have the best time we girls go every other year without the husbands
and feel like we are queens for a week.
Enjoy your self. Lots of good fun, food, tours, meeting new friends
and finding everything on the ship...
I leave May 21 going a day earlier so we are rested and ready to have
fun.

Your life will never be quite the same again!! It is much more that a moving hotel. It is an adventure. Prepare to be extremely pampered and spoiled. We have been on the Conquest on the very same route that you are taking. Even though we were waved off of Grand Cayman due to a very strong tropical storm (one month before Katrina), everything was still wonderful. Bon voyage!
