Just thought everyone would want to know what Carnival is up to these days on their shows after dinner.
My daughter and I went to the illusionist show at 8:30 after dinner on the 13th of our cruise to belize roaton and cozumel. The show as very racy with the dancers wearing thongs with their backsides exposed bending over several times to show all who wanted to see. Many families with children got up and left shortly after the show started. The Illusionist and cruise director many times advertised the late "French Burlesque" style show that evening. It was "R rated". It's sad because the magician was very good and did not need the "dancers" to have a great show!
I did not personally go to this show but a few cruiser I talked to the next day did go. He told me it was a "Topless" show. The show is called "A Kiss Good Night".(attached is the Funtimes)
I guess I will have to reconsider cruising with Carnival in the future if this is the direction they are heading as a cruise line.

I really can't believe your complaining about a show you didn't see.
BTW- I have seen some topless flashes on a cruise of of NOLA, but that was passengers. May have been Cruisemates?

Shrug, I think Carnival is pretty up-front about their product. If you don't like that type of entertainment on a cruise, there are plenty of other cruise lines to choose. Welcome to the free market.
Nobody held a gun to your head and made you choose that ship or that show .. and as you pointed out, even if you and your daughter were surprised, all you had to do was walk out.

Topless show ?
great Idea.
for sure my next cruise would be on Carnival.
WOW,,,,me too! Can't wait till my next Carnival Cruise! I just may have to book another one before September, 'cause that's when my next one is book for. A true Vegas style show would be GREAT!
On all of our cruises there have been adult only shows late and only a couple of times have we gone. It was because we did enjoy the early show by whomever and have to say the late show was more than i really enjoyed but it was our choice. These were the comics, have not seen a LV type dance show in years.
We have found that we really don't care that much for many of the shows so will spend time at the outdoor screen watching movies.
There is so much anyone can do and if you aren't sure about a show then sit where you can easily leave.
I have seen kids at the adult shows and most of the time the CD or Asst CD has stated prior to the show that it is an adult one and that children should not be there or even for an early show that there may be parts not for kids.
But for sure if I have not seen a show I would feel strange to complain about it. As long as the line no matter which one does advertise that any particular show is R rated then there should not be complaints about it being R rated.

They had this same show....but since it is not our cup of tea...we did not attend.
People were warned repeatedly about the content.....
I don't think any additional warnings are necessary...especially second hand.

This is why my hubby gets there early so he can get seats in the front row. We have never seen a topless shows on Carnival, thanks for the heads up we will have to check it out. I hope the Splendor has this show.
R rating is from the Motion Pictures Association. So let's review their website. Motion Picture Association of America First off R means restricted childern under 17 need to be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian and R rating includes sexually-oriented nudity. So the Carnival provided fair warning about the topless show.
An R-rated motion picture, in the view of the Rating Board, contains some adult material. An R-rated motion picture may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to take this rating very seriously. Children under 17 are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about R-rated motion pictures in determining their suitability for their children. Generally, it is not appropriate for parents to bring their young children with them to R-rated motion pictures.

I hate to say it..But you see more skin around the lido deck during day..The type that shouldnt be exposed..If it was "R" rated..It was just that..Im sure there was fair warning. I just got back tonight from a cruise that had 2 comedians that were "R" rated..Despite the warnings..I still saw allot of kids there. That is why they have 2 differnt shows..G and R..A thong is nothing more there you see at beach..Get a life..

I have to ask this question???
If you and the other passengers were informed "many times" that this was an R rated show .... Why would you take children to it ?... and then get mad and walk out ?... and then say that you will have to reconsider cruising with Carnival?!!! if you didn't even go to the show??
I think if any show is rated "R", that tells you something, keep the kids out of the show?? Those shows are always later in the evening, when kids should be asleep, right?
The show appeared to be well advertised as R rated in the fun times. It was at 12:30 A.M. wouldn't a reasonable person have children ready for bed by midnight? I have witnessed children at the adult comedy nights that were advertised as adults only, the comedian told children to leave before he began and still parents sat there with there children. Some people are just plain stupid, then they complain because they are offended, by actions or words. Adults are entitled to entertainment without the intrusion of someones brats, Carnival should post security and keep them out. It was at midnight for petes sake, get a life and get over it. If you don't want to cruise Carnival, Don't, someone will take your place. ME

First, I would never post about a subject that I did not see with my own eyes. Second and third hand misinformation results in nothing but gibberish when someone uses it to post about a subject.
Some of us senior cruisers remember that once upon a time the upper deck surrounding the smoke stack offered a no top option back in the day.
Anyone who walks around the pool deck during a day at sea will see many sights up close, not from a distance on stage. Furthermore, at some Caribbean beaches topless or total nudity is the norm.
p.s. Does anyone have any photos or video of this alleged topless show?

Somebody needs to do a check and get the Second and third hand misinformation right before posting on different cruise boards. What you saw at the show or what somebody else saw you can see on the Lido deck. Somebody needs to get a life. As for R rated shows they have been going on back when we started cruising. People do like to whine.
It's really hard to understand that someone is upset over a show they didn't see-- and that was reportedly advertised several times as R rated and last but not least,---thongs! Just go by the pool anytime and you can get an eyeful of thongs, bikinis, speedos, almost everything you could hope to see and an eyeful of things you hope not to see. I'm not in anyway making fun of nor condemning some folks I see around the pool in their " swimsuits" but I'd rather see a young, in shape dancer in a thong that an overweight grandma in a bikini that was 3 sizes too small when she bought it just days before the cruise !! Just my opinion, which is worthlessto anyone but me anyway !!
;-) ;-) ;-)
The OP did state that a fellow cruise passenger told her that a show titled "A Kiss Goodnight" was a "topless" show. This was the show the OP did not see but was using second hand information for the basis of her post.

What I worry about are those who are here to learn about their first cruise. LADIES AND GENTLEMAN CARNAVAL DOES NO HAVE TOPLESS SHOWS.
This one maybe a topless show. I found a video of the show on Youtube no topless scenes in the video. But they describe it as similar to Crazy Horse in Las Vegas which is a topless show. I believe this show is only on the Triumph now. Let's go to the video. There is not full nudity in this video it is a little cheeky so just know. Don't watch it and then complain I'm warning you now.
