I just read how Carnival will be having 11 cruises to Bermuda next year, from 4 east coast cities..

Does sailing to just one island, interest you? Being docked, used to have limitations on board as far as casinos being open as well as shops, & limited entertainment, but I do believe things have changed in recent yrs..

For me, I would love to visit Bermuda,as one port in my itinerary, but honestly, knowing me, I think I would be bored. I know Trimminghams and I believe Browns, have closed, so is there still interesting shopping there?

Recent Bermuda cruisers, please chime in...I am sure Kuki as well, will have some great tidbits for us all once he docks there on the Veendam.
So, do you all love cruises to Bermuda? Am I missing the boat?

We will definitely look into these cruises. We have wanted to go to Bermuda and this may just be our chance. Staying there for the only port for us should be okay. We have never been so we would be able to see and do a lot.

it works very well if you have a specific agenda for that particular port of call..for instance, Bermuda has an awesome jazz festival weekend in october of every year,that i've always wanted to attend, so this might be a possibility depending on when the ship is in port

many years ago i did the Bermuda cruise where we stayed two days and loved it

Nope, doesn't interest me much with just one stop. Would be nicer to stop at a few islands and include that, but its difficult with the location. May-be some day if and when I take up golf, that would be a good one for that.

I would absolutely be interested in going,,,,ONCE. As most of you know, we seldom leave the ship, but we've actually never been to Bermuda, and I would like to go there once, to see the island. Count me in!

When we were new cruisers this would not have interested us in the least. Now that we've been to most of the islands, I think we would be more open to an overnight or two in the same port. For us now, we enjoy the ship almost as much as the destination anyway.

I never thought I would want to take a cruise that only stopped at one place, but our cruise coming up is only going to Nassau. Our nieces want really bad to visit Atlantis. Seeing it, visiting the aquariums, and spending a day in the water park is enough for them so the cruise works out just fine and is a lot cheaper than any of the land based packages.

My vote would be that if I really wanted to visit a place, and the ship stayed long enough, and made economic sense; I would take a cruise with just one destination. My preference would generally be to see several different locations, however.

We have never been to Bermuda and will be looking into the new offerings. The Fantasy out of Charleston is looking very interesting.

ScurvyDog, that is what we are looking at too. Charleston would not be too much of a drive for us and the prices I'm seeing are good.

I have been to Bermuda once and will be on one of those cruises in 2011. I love the place, no pushy hucksters,nice beaches, they speak English, and the climate is first rate. I can give up the casinos on board for a few nights.To bermuda only is great, yea for Carnival. RCCL has been doing it for some time and continues to do so. There aren't any islands between the ports listed and Bermuda so that option is out.Great idea ,love it,love it, love it.

I have cruised to Bermuda twice. Once from Boston on Celebrity Meridian. That ship docked out at the Royal Naval Dockyard. The bus service or ferry made it easy to get to Hamilton. I really love Bermuda. It is peaceful and pleasant there.
I also sailed there from NY on Home Lines, Homeric. Wonderful ship and fantastic cruise line. Sadly they have gone away. I would choose them over any other line if they were still operating. We docked in Hamilton on Front St. I have to admit it was a lot handier there. Easy walk to the bus station to get busses all over the island. The shops or downtown were always busy and lots of fun to explore.
I have often wondered why the major lines have not been sending ships from Florida there. A ship leaving from Miami or Ft Lauderdale could make a stop at Nassau then on to Bermuda.
Both of those trips were in the 80's so I am not up on the changes in Bermuda. Some people rented scooters and went off on their own to investigate the beaches. Lots of nice places to stop and swim there. I do not remember either ship selling shore tours there. We always made our own way around. One of the things I loved about Bermuda was there are no vendors constantly harrassing you to buy junk. This island is a lovely peaceful paradise that should not be missed.
