Default Room Service?

My DH and I have never used room service. In August, I am taking my BFF on her 1st cruise. She thinks room service, especially for breakfast, is the way to go. The Carnival website says that they just have sandwiches, fruit, and Continental breakfast. Is that really all they will bring you? Any feedback is appreciated.

We always ordered room service for breakfast. We put the card on the door the night before and then had it delivered at a certain time every morning. We got bagels, cream cheese, coffee, cereal, milk and fruit. It was an awesome breakfast and plus you didn't have to get dressed to eat

BFF = Best friend forever
We like room service breakfast on sea days, and it is a good breakfast.
Sometimes you may want to order two of something instead of just one,
but overall is is good & relaxing.
On port days, when needed, we'll order a sandwich, wrap it up and
take it ashore with a bottle of water we reloaded in the cabin.
Happy sailing

Frankly I think Carnival does a pretty skimpy breakfast. You can order two of things if you want but no eggs no meat. A dieters dream....or not.

DW and I didn't think much about room service breakfast. That's why I booked a cabin two decks below the lido restaurant. Its a short walk to a REAL breakfast. Made to order omelet or eggs, grits, bacon, large selection of fruit, ect. I'm an early riser so there are not many people in line. We sat at a table on the lido deck stern area which is located behind the adult pool and watched the wake on sea days. WOW I need another cruise

I also like to be up closer to the buffet for a quick breakfast...It is nice, however to have room service bring up coffee while you get ready, sit and relax on your balcony before you start another wonderful day in a new port...

We always get room service in the mornings. We don't refer to it as room service but rather "first breakfast".

Do you get second breakfast and elevensies too? Are they served by the hobbits? Thanks for the chuckle.

We always go to the buffet for breakfast or lunch and the dining room each night for dinner.

My grandson, who is 11, just loves room service around midnight. He thinks it's so cool that you can just pick up a phone, order a wonderful sandwich, cookies, fruit, chips and a drink. He loves it when he hears the gentle knock on the cabin door.........oh boy, F-O-O-D!!!.....and to give the crew a dollar or two (of course it's MY money).

We leave in just a little over 2 weeks and I'm saving my singles.....

We too always use room service. We enjoy our coffee & tea prior to going to the breakfast buffet or regular breakfast. I too like to have my coffee on the balcony.
We do also use room service for an extra snack or when my wife takes a nap and wakes up too late, missing a meal, she will order a sandwitch. One time we were too tired to go to dinner, so we just ordered room service. It was great.

I know the room service menu is very limited but is it possible to request and receive items not on the menu? If yes, can you tell us what items we may be able to get?

Thanks!

I don't know about food but on the first night of a former cruise I had a budding UTI starting. I did call down for some cranberry juice late that night (it wasn't on the menu) and they let me know they would have to go to one of the bars to get a glass of it. They came thru for me.......and added $4.25 on my tab.....

This next cruise I'm taking some cranberry tablets with me.

From our recent experience, no, you can't get anything other than what's listed on the RS menu. We found that the best thing was the tuna salad. Nothing is "fresh cooked". For instance, you can't order a burger. On one of our first night's I ordered the corned beef sandwich. It came on white bread with MAYO and lettuce and tomato  !

One night I asked for cookies instead of cake and was told there were NO cookies!

Want a really great breakfast memory.... We took our 4-year old granddaughter on her first cruise this past March. The first morning we had room service delivery breakfast (Juice, milk, toast and fruit) without telling our granddaugher in advance. When "the knock" came, my wife pulled out the luggage mat out real quick and put it on the foot of the bed as our "picnic blanket". By the time our granddaugher realized what was going on, we had our breakfast picnic all spread out and ready to go. She still is talking about our picnic in bed... Now that's the type memories to carry with you for life.... Ain't cruising wonderful????

I really doubt they put raw food on mat. I think they kept it on the plates.

Can't be any worse than any picnic table in a park in Anytown USA or the table on the balcony. That bird crap is all over. All of them can be wiped down before use.

Personally, I would have eliminated the luggage mat but she probably is more considerate of the cabin steward.

Take care,
Mike

What a wonderful memory for all of you ! Little Bit's remember very different things than we do as adults. She'll probably be talking about the "picnic breakfast" on the ship for many years to come!

Bob, "ignorance is bliss" ! I've seen people put their babies on the counter, so I'm guessing that E-coli is probably there?

Frankly, I think today's kid's are more likely to get sick because they aren't exposed to many germs ! Back in the "old days" parent's didn't go crazy if their child got sick. It was part of growing up.
