Default Rates Lowered After Booking?

I have a quick question please? We booked our Carnival cruise last February for a July 31st sail date. Since that time, the prices have been lowered. I called Carnival yesterday to see if we can get a credit using the new rate. They said no as it was in the penalty phase of the booking.

Has anyone else ran across this situation? If you did, did you get a credit?

Thank You!

After final payment the only way you are able to get any OBC, onboard credit would be if you booked in the early saver promotion. Then you could submit a lower price request form.

But if you have just booked a reg promo like past guest, mili, and so on then they do not do credit after final payment any longer.

What you can do though is look for a upgraded cabin at the value you paid, they will upgrade you if the price is the same, or for istance you wanna pay $5 more pp for a cabin you may want more.

Good luck and hope all works well!

If you're after final payment and didn't book the Early Saver, it's best to not even look at the "after final payment" prices!

Once you're past final payment they're just trying to sell the unsold cabins and sometimes you'll see "your" area cabins for much less $$$. It will drive you nuts if you keep checking!

If you want the lower price you should wait to book until the last minute (if the cabin and the area you want are NOT important). That's the best way to get a discounted cruise.

On the Carnival website they will show the fares for cruise with Fun Saver (the cruise line selects your cabin possible upgrade), Fun Select (you pick the cabin you want), and Early Saver (non refundable you pick your cabin, this fare offers price protection). I normally booked Fun Select fares hoping for an upgrade. But I haven't had a good upgrade in a while. My last cruise before I booked to far ahead I booked Early Saver. Every time the price went down I put in an Early Saver request and I got OBC for the price difference. However, this is a non refundable cruise fare, You can change cruise dates with a $50 per person fee. I hope the helps.

They are generally pretty prompt with a response, I have actually gotten two price reductions in the last week, one in 36 hours, the other in two business days (the weekend got in the way)

Carnival stopped giving credits after the final payment date has passed on 1/1/ 09. or 10. Not when final payment is made, but the due date.
Unless it is an ES booking.

What you can do is look at today's prices and see if a higher category cabin is selling now at less than you paid. Then they will upgrade you to the higher category, but no credit.

Something isn't right here. As of today, you are 149 days from your sail date. Final payment on Carnival cruises are due:

61 Days prior to sailing on 2, 3, 4 and 5 night cruises.
76 Days for 6, 7 and 8 night cruises
91 Days for 7, 9 and 12 night European Cruises.

You are not within the penalty phase of your cruise. I would call back and ask to speak with a supervisor and see what is going on.

Take care,
Mike

had no problem like that at all. We booked early saver in aug for April 31. Since then the price has not dropped, but I got OBC because they were running a senior promo and I was 54 at time of booking. but since turned 55. I also discovered that they have specials for military and I got upgraded one grade. Not at all sure what the pent. phase would be.
