Default Splendor Veterans Please

We will be sailing the Splendor from Long Beach in October. I need to know at what point the "lifeboat drill" takes place ?? Is it before or after the ship leaves the pier ?? About how long before or after ??
I need to send out invitations to our "Champagne Sail Away party" but don't know the "drill" on Splendor. We normally have it right after lifeboat drill as the ship sails out of the harbour, but I've never sailed out of Long Beach. Thanks for any help.

We've not sailed the Splendor (yet!), but I think the lifeboat drill will be an hour to an hour and a half before sailing. We've never been on a ship when the drill was after sailing (not saying it doesn't happen, just that we haven't done it).

If you're trying to set up a "Meet & Greet", I'd just ask everyone to come 30 minutes after the drill is over. That gives people time to go back to their cabin's if they need to.

Have a great cruise and it's nice of you to set up the meeting ,

The lifeboat drill was around 5pm. They like to do it before the ship leaves so people can get back to their cabins and to Lido for sailaway or get ready for dinner at 6pm!!!! I sailed on the Splendor last September and we never left until at least 6:30pm for some reason....wanted to watch sailaway.

Yup everyone's right. I think the rules are they have to do it before sail way. I remember it being around 4:30 to 5:00. Life jackets are no longer required, I was pretty happy about that. Here is a link to my review of the Splendor we had a lot of fun. If you have never cruised these ports my review will provide good information on the difference between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. I hope that helps.

Ive been on ships where the drill is after sail away. It just depends on how the ship is loading and paperwork etc. I believe the law says they have to conduct the drill within the first 24 hours although I have never heard it being done that late. Generally the captain doesnt care if the ship has sailed or not although my guess is they want the drill first, its all about the vessel being secured and organized.
