We are leaving in November on the Conquest.
Our room right now is on the lower deck "Rivera" to get away from the humming and noise of the ship motor our TA recommended either room#1401 nearly mid-level of ship 120.00 more or a completley different deck "Empress" room#7350 that would be directly mid-level and it would cost 220.00 more.
Should we spend the extra money? your thoughts on this are appreciated.
Thank you
I would not spend the money unless you really wanted to be on a higher deck. I have traveled on Riviera deck many times and never noticed that the engines were any bother at all. They are many decks below passenger decks.

I was on the Riviera deck on the Elation years ago, no noise at all. The only noise I have encountered is when we are on an Aft Balcony, right below the Aft Pool...you can hear deck chairs being moved around.
We always select a Balcony Stateroom, usually on the "Empress Deck", (deck 7). Yes it costs more but you get what you pay for, (you do receive a prior cruiser's discount), and you won't need a hair dryer. You also get those good photographs with a balcony. Once you have a balcony there's no going back.

i would move forward unless it is a rear balcony, but not higher. i feel a slight vibration in the rear of most carnival ships (all except the Sprit class use straight shafts, azipod drives are much smother). but i have never noticed a engine noise problem on any ship.

I've stayed on the Riviera Deck before and had no issues at all with noise.
