will that work
That seems like a good salary to me. I need to get pictures of the male entertainers. I think some of the ships could use either the Thunder Down under or the Chippendale shows. After these are the fun ships. Maybe for the next cougar cruise!!!

I would begin to cater to the singles. Carnival is losing a lot of business and forcing the singles to book with NCL. I would also do way more for the past guests, I have cruised Carnival 8 times and never get any cruise specials for my efforts. I also have cruised Costa and Carnival won't acknowledge my cruise toward my past guest loyalty count. I would run great past guest specials, more on board perks. and cater to singles.
I have been on 12 cruises with Carnival and 4 with NCL and 1 with MSC I prefer Carnival, but I would book more if I could go single rate if it was a bit more reasonable, its very hard to get family and friends to go with me due to time restraints and work and school schedules Many times I had the chance to get away but could not afford the double rates. including airfares and all the xtra $$ to get to the ports its bad enough airlines are killing us with baggage fees. Parking at ports if you drive in and all the extra monies you have to dole out before you even get on board, then all the extra fees, drinks, photos, Bingo which is out of control on the price,
NCL has a good idea with the new epic but they to are a bit expensive for single rate. Maybe if Carnival could be a match maker for double cabins. since they will not come down on the single rates or give repeat cruisers who are single a nice discount after a 10 cruise min. 15 cruise min. 20 cruise min. I have priced many inclusive resorts compare to cruiselines and they are alot less inexpensive, but I am a avid cruiser and love to travel that way just wish I could afford to go alone!!!
I suppose I would demand strict adherence to existing policies ie. no one under 21 in the serenity area, no one under 18 in the adult comedy shows no exceptions , no one under 18 served alcohol, etc. Senior crew members would be held accountable for enforcement. Seperate areas of the dining rooms would be reserved for individuals who choose to dress more formally, this area could be expandable to accomodate those who choose this option upon booking.

I'd bring back the "match a single" (no, that's not what it was called!) with another single (of the same sex).
As other's have said, the price of cruising alone is really "un-doable".
Even though I have my DH to cruise with, I've met several ladies on CM's that I think I could share a cabin with if I wanted to cruise without him !

How about an all-inclusive cruise. No tips or charges for drinks. I always find the pursuit of tips by the crew to be demeaning anways. Just pay them more. Resorts work this way and I find it to be more relaxed for guests and workers.
No tips...that is a great idea. Charge $70 more on cruise-fare.

I so agree! I would love to cruise solo but probably never will because of the cost. Therefore, I guess this last cruise was in fact.....my last cruise.
Oh now...don't give up !
I'm a single/solo and refuse to let the cruiselines price me out of my favorite vacation.

We usually list things we would like to see on these ships, but if we found ourselves in the top chair of a cruise-line, we would ultimately do the very things that are already being done.
As a single guy, I would just love for the ships to cater to the solo traveler. We could really play up the "boy meets girl" thing. Thing is...the ships already have singles parties...and I'm usually the only one to show up.
So...to be honest...I would continue what my predecessors have accomplish. Their policies have worked and made money.
Making money the solo reason the lines are in business, which is natural order of things since....cruiselines that can't make a huge profit have gone extinct.

Smoking is actually a possible money maker for Carnival in another way.
If Carnival restricted smoking inside and balconies to E cigarettes only (you can smoke them anywhere you want to) and had a couple of spots outdoors where you could smoke the regular cigarettes...then SELL the E Cigarettes and cartridges at the bars....
smokers are happy ( because they can smoke anywhere they want to)
nonsmokers are happy (because all it gives off is vapor)
Carnival is happy....because they would make a lot of money!
I have friends that use these Electronic Cigarettes on every cruise and love the freedom of being able to smoke where ever they want to.
With Carnival's new smoking policy you can only smoke E Cigarettes in designated smoking areas. I'm betting the reason for this is they don't want nonsmokers to see some with them and start freaking out thinking it's an actual cigarette. I'm currently trying to quit smoking and E Cigarettes are horrible IMHO.
I believe that there are a lot of people out there who will not cruise because of smoking. Not to mention the people who avoid the casino and lounges because of the stench not to mention the dangers of smoke. I really think the revenue picked up in these areas will make up that 20%.
Laura
See I completely disagree that people don't cruise because of smokers. There are so many areas whre you can't, especially with the new smoking policy. I would be willing to bet that they'll lose more smokers, than they ever did non smokers.

I think I saw the subject of the cruise lines going "All Inclusive" I would hate to pay more money for so much that I would never use. It is bad enough that I have to pay double because I am single. I do not go to the spa, I am not much of a drinker of alcohol. I average 4 per cruise. I rarely drink tonic and I rarely ever purchase photos. The supplement has made it hard enough for me. Going AI would price cruising out of range for me.

that's true. I don't drink.... so I would in no way wish to buy everyone else's drinks. That is one reason that I have not booked a singles cruise which includes "open bar".

on my Golden Princess cruise to Hawaii last year, I was getting odd looks from several of the prominent staff members as I walked around the ship. It was noticably wierd attention. On about day 4 the Maitre de finally approached me and struck up a conversation. Turns out they thought I was Mickey Arison doing an 'Undercover Boss' kinda thing. If I'd known that I would have worked it for some more perks. At least we all got a good laugh out of it. I told him I am lots poorer, but better looking.

Fern I have been playing with doing another "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" cruise. We had a small one last year and had a great time.

If I were CEO of, well, any company for that matter, I'd focus my attention on my employees. I'd encourage them to give input in and have an actual stake in the company besides a simple paycheck. I'd encourage risk-taking and experimentation with policies and perhaps even give even the lowest level of my employees the chance to have a say in what goes on.
Of course, I assume that Carnival already does this and doesn't simply do like the school I work for does and treat it's employees like dog feces. /rant.
Why does not Carnival load all your pictures onto like a zip drive where you can view your pictures. Each week they could erase them and put the next passengers onto them. Easy peasy. No waste of paper. Just print out what you want in the size you want.
