I finally decided to upgrade to a balcony from my interior cabin for my cruise. When I called to upgrade, I had 2 options: 1 (much cheaper) not guarenteed where the balcony would be, but comes with possibility to be upgraded to a different cabin and 2. a definite room assignment. I went with the first one. When will the room be assigned to us? As well as, is it even likely that we will be even upgraded from the balcony??
Not very many people get upgraded to a cat above what you booked anymore. The upsell has taken over. Sometimes you get your cabin number 1 month out and sometimes not till you get to the port. We had it both ways. We don't do it anymore. You used to have a chance at a really good upgrade even to a suite but not anymore. Now you got to pay for it. There good at giveing a 2 decks up to make you feel good but the room is the same as what you booked. We did get one on the Pride we went from 8a to a 8J got a larger balcony but that was thru a players club deal with Carnival. We will pay for that in the casino. Good luck. Balcony is the only way to go.
Hi AM,
You could get a cabin assignment at any point, depends on how well the ship is selling. When is your cruise?
When you go to the Carnival web-site and put in all your personal info., keep checking that, as soon as you have an actual cabin, it will be listed there.
Exactly I've been on RCCL 2x balcony (one was originally an inside cabin, but we didnt last for more than 2 hours), and I don't think I could go back. I was going to try with Carnival a room with just a window (maybe it would be a bit bigger than the RCCL room we had?), but I just can't do it lol
we took a up grade once from a window ang got a cat 9 stateroom on the back of GLORY loved it SPOILED,so when we go we are really spoiled and get a suite. go for the gusto you may get lucky
Enjoy

p.s. going back to GLORY in OCT or this year out of norfolk, va
