Default Does size matter

I regularly read in posts that people love one size ship over another. I've done the Conquest and Fantasy class ships (Conquest, Valor and Fantasy x2) and really didn't have a better experience, or worse experience, on either because of it's size.
My wife insists the biger ships are her favorite, but can't give a reason.

Do you have a favorite class and if so, why?

I personally like the Spirit class ships. Higher percentage of balconies makes the upgrade cost a little lower. Fewer inside cabins means that sometimes no one is living across the hall from you so a little less noise. Better chance to have rooms above and below you, also providing less noise. There is still plenty to do on board, plenty of space to explore, a nice variety of eating places available but fewer people to get on and off in port.

All that said, I would not go out of my way to choose one class of ship over another. So far I have enjoyed every ship I have been on and the size has not greatly affected me. The availability and price of a nice ocean view balcony probably means the most to me when I select a cruise. Second the ports of call, then the home port.

I like the Conquest class ships. More food choices, fish n chips, Mongalian BBQ etc. Also Fantasy Class ships don't have 8A cabins you have to go to a suite in order to have a balcony. With the bigger ships I feel less crowded in the buffet. I haven't cruised a Spirit class ship. Just Conquest class, Fantasy class and the Carnival Splendor which does have a class.

Of course size does matter.

The bigger the better.

The Carnival LIberty was better than the Sensation.
Yes, I have sailed on both of them.

My favorite ship of all is the BIG, and beautiful Oasis of the Seas.

It's amazing for those who started cruising in the 80/90's...looking back we walked on board thinking, omg, how big this ship is! Now, we know what gigantic means, and, these "little" ships are but a memory.

We sailed the Conquest and Liberty, and really enjoyed them. The biggest to daye was The Freedom of the Seas, and I thought I would be overwhelmed, but I loved it. The BIG Epic comes in the fall...we'll see about the size thing

So far we have not felt that we have been overwhelmed by any ship. I guess the largest has been Caribbena Princess. But I don't really want to go on any as big as Epic or definitely Oasis.

One thing we have found we really like on a ship is the large outdoor screen. We don't go to a lot of the shows so it is nice to have the screen to go watch a movie or something. And we have missed it when it has not been on board.

Love the Spirit class ships. Comfortable size and easy to get around. The decor of this class of ship is a nice departure from the glitzy fantasy class. Quiet and elegant and much nicer. The Pride was nice with its Renaissance theme. The Spirit was nicely done with dark wood and coppery tones. I have not sailed on the Legend as yet.

I love them all. If I had a preference it would definitely be the Spirit class ships. The have the best traffic flow and layout of them. I remember the first time I walked onto the Pride, I commented this doesn't look like a Carnival ship.

I really don't think so. It is WAY to big and while the one RCI cruise we took was okay it was not our favorite (though it was better than our one cruise on NCL). Plus with all the extras that are included in the price of the cruise it make s the price of the cruise too hight, which I have found to be the case on almost all cruises I look at for RCI. We don't need of want a flowrider, a carasell (sp), a zip line or all the extra resturants (that cost to eat at). If I want a shopping mall I will go to one at home don't need that on a ship. Plus for the cost for one person on the Oasis we can get a cruise for 2 on Carnival.

I love the bigger ships because there are lots more common space to read or people watch than if you are on a smaller ship.

I was on one of the smaller NCL ships years ago, I think it was the Sea. It rained more than half the crusie. We brought books to read as we do on any cruise we take, but this ship was so small there was no where to go - literally. We would walk around looking for a place to read only to end up back in the cabin.

I also like the fact that the larger ships are more modern - some of the older small ships can be "worn".

I prefer Carnival's Spirit class ships because the location of the dining room does not make you have to go or down levels to get through like on the Conquest class. The Pride was beautiful, don't care for decor on the Legend with it's urn theme. I also like the pool decks the pools are not set down in the decks like on the Conquest ship, therefore when at the aft pool you get a lovely view of the wake of the ship, I know the layouts well and don't get nearly as lost as I do on the Conquest class.
