Default Shore Excursions San Juan

Will be on Glory Dec 5th and would want to do my own excursion. Any info or suggestions would help. Like Culture, history - Old San Juan, New . Anyone take the carriage ride there or take the free trolley?

Thanks

Avoid a neighborhood called La Perla. The beach by the Marriott in Condado is family oriented, but the stretch of beach next to it, to the west/toward Old San Juan, is for homosexuals. Isla Verde, to the east of Condado, has a lovely bar called The Blue Dolphin, which serves Coco Locos - piņa coladas in the coco nuts.

Default Taxi Police

I took a cruise on the Carnival Destiny from San Juan and back in 2002. When I returned, there were uniformed Taxi Police, who asked me where I was going, and issued me a document, indicating how much the taxi fare should be. Good thing, 'cause the cabby tried to overcharge me!

Been there 4 times. Just a note....remember the time were going. The sun will be set by 7 or earlier, so it will be dark. Here are some things you can do. On the main street, go past the hotel casino there is a rum store that has lots of history on how rum is made, they usually have someone standing outside to make sure kids don`t go in. They offer numerous FREE samples of different flavours of rum smoothies mmmm. Also there is a free green coloured bus that goes around the old city, you can hop on and hop. If walking just watch out for the cars as the sidewalks are narrow. There is great shopping and Walgrens is the cheapest place to by their great coffee.

Last time we were in San Juan, we really enjoyed visiting the 2 forts and just wondering around in Old San Juan. We walked along the shore from the fort and ended up near the Old San Juan cruise ship docks, we found some nice shops and had lunch at the Ben and Jerrys just down the street.

If you want to meet homosexuals, that's the place to go. If you don't, you might want to avoid it.

A couple young men helped me move a refrigerator that washed ashore there.

I recommend the free Bacardi Factory tour, if they still have it; I went in 2002. I drove up, and received a free parking pass, three free drink passes each for everyone of drinking age in our car, and a free trolley pass for each of us to take the guided tour of the buildings. Souvenirs were available in the gift shop.
