Carnival Dream, Great Cruise
Got back Sat, Oct 2 from an Eastern Carib cruise on Carnival Dream. It was the 1st time on the Dream for us. A short review follows:

We live about a little less than 2 hours from the embarkation port at Port Canaveral. We had a call from Carnival that recommended we get to the port about 1030. So that's what we did. Arrived about 1015 and there were still folks debarking the ship but not a bother. Also the luggage drop off has changed a bit freom the last time at Port Canaveral but was easy to do. Dropped the bags, parked and were at the VIP desk at 1040 (Platinum does have its good points:D) and onboard by 1110. We had read all the comments about food lines so we decided to try the Mongolian BBQ then before the crowds came. Great idea and the food was also great. We then reconnoitered the ship to get our bearings. Pretty easy to get around. Went to the Spa and my wife signed up for the weekly package at $149. She normally isn't a spa person but this was the best $149 we ever spent on a cruise. She simply fell in love with the Spa and used it daily. Best when in port as not crowded but plenty of space. We were in the cabin by 2;00 and luggage arrived soon after. The ports of call were Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. We have been there many time so we stayed aboard in Nassau and St. Maarten. In St. Thomas we took a tour to St. John. Very picturesque and we enjoyed it. As for the Dream herself, it was a very enjoyable and entertaining experience for us. Food in the dining room was good with flashes of greatness. However the waitstaff were the best ever. Razial was the 1st female head waiter we ever had and she was outstanding. Roni her assistant was also wonderful,. Both knew our names right away and my after dinner espresso was delivered without having to ask for it. Prime rib, rack of lamb, short ribs (yes I am a carnivore:D) were outstanding. My wife had great seafood, the salmon was outstanding and also the pasta. Unfortunately we didn't get to the Pasta Bar but will next time. Did breakfast in the dining room 3 times. Good but not great. Gatherings for lunches and in between meals. I did the BBQ lunch one day, ribs and some Mexican dishes. Very good. It was a great idea to set it up outside. Very enjoyable. And of course the pizza. All in all it was a great cruise for us and we already planning a return one next year. Almost forgot, Butch the CD is really good. We took in the welcome aboard show and also the "Dancing in the Streets" show. If you have the opportunity, Dancing in the Streets is not to be missed. Also hit a couple of the comedy clubs and enjoyed them. The only real downer for me as I am the slot fanatic was the lack of payouts:( on the slots in the casino. Every one was complaining as usually a few large jackpots are made. But not this time. Debarkation was breeze. We set the alarm for 0730 and we were off the ship by 0810, picked up the luggage, cleared customs and were out of the parking garage by 0830. Really amazing. Stopped for breakfast at Zachery's, a mom and pop restaurant close to the port. This a standard stop for us when we sail from Port Canaveral. We were back home about 1130. Definitely a good time was had by us and we look forward to crusing again.

We were on the Dream with you... Was a great cruise. I thought the Dream was very easy to get around considering has big and how many passengers were aboard. We had a aft cabin on deck 9 which was great.
The production shows were the best we have seen. "Dancing in the Street" is not to be missed.
The big deck party "red, white and blue" was lots of fun.
Lots of different kinds of music throughout the ship.
Agree, the Casino was very tight.
The Slide was lots of fun but very long lines.
Food was great as usual.. love the Rack of Lamb. Pasta bar was very good and it was nice to be waited on. Burrito bar was very popular however the Indian Food was never busy. BBQ outside was a great idea.
We thought the ship was not as attractive as some of the other Carnival Ships but we like a little more glitz.
Have been to all the port before but did do St Johns and Trunk Bay. With out a doubt it is the prettiest beach we have ever been to and we are from Hawaii and Calif.
Getting on and off the ship was a breeze.

Grandy, we are booked in 9476 AFT in a few weeks. Did you enjoy your AFT on that floor? Did they give you chaise lounges or regular chairs for your balcony? Did you find it spacious? Thanks for any info you can give us.

Can you tell us which two nights were formal nights? We are booked in a couple of weeks.

The cabin was spacious enough for the three of us. We had plenty of space for storage and floor space to get around.
Balcony is larger than a regular balcony and there were two lounge type chairs and one regular chair and small table. Having the overhang above you was great as it gave you shade in the afternoon. We loved the cabin as I am sure you will. Let me know how your cruise was.
Formal nights are Sunday and Thursday. Anything eles you want to know you can email me
