Default Post-Cruise Flight Question-Ft. Lauderdale

We just booked our flights and now I am kind of worried about our post cruise flight. Our ship is supposed to get to port at 8am and our flight is at 10:45. Anyone who has cruised and flown out of Ft. Lauderdale think this is doable? The other flights were either too late, even earlier or much more expensive.

Make the pursers office aware asap that, you have an early flight, and need first off, emabrkation. Your saving grace is how close you are to the airport from the port..DO NOT take a transfer, grab a cab...and GO!

What could work against you is, the flight is a tad early..I have made 11:00 flights but that was before the long security lines and the humomgus ship in port, Oasis now, and Allure in December. Be on your toes that day, and wear sneakers.....

Default Early Debark - walk off luggage

Carnival has a option as long as you can walk off the ship with your luggage you will be in a cab on the way to the airport no later than 8:30 or earlier. Most ships get in way earlier than 8 am. You should be o.k. Have fun. Thanks Ed

The one time we did our own dismembarkation it was tough....if you are young and strong no problem, but, with a medium bag each and a carry on, plus the terrible way this was handled by Carnival, onboard our ship at least, in another port, I would speak to the purser before you make the desision to carry off your own bags...the time frame and closeness to the airport, could make the time you arrive at the airport, about the same.

I agree the self debark is troublesome at best. They really do need to do better. Perhaps having 2 gangways.

Then again, its not always the ship that slows things down...its the CBP.

My suggestion is to try to get a later flight so that your day is not full of stress on top of the stress of flying these days.

Thanks for the feedback.
Trip-We are young at heart! Well, 39, but we're both decently fit. We can run if we have to!
Ed-Thanks!! You are the only who has made me feel okay about the flight time.

I think we will leave it and be prepared to RUN!

BUMP!

Curious as to how the OP made out. Keep your 10:45 flight? Transfers to Airport? Cab? Easy? Hard?

Thanx,
Krunch

Rember you have to be felt up by your TSA agent now that slows things down a little,
but like trip said "you are close to the airport".
good luck

Default I made a 8:45am flight on Nov 27

We took our own suitcase off the ship at 7:30 made it through customs by 7:45 jumped in a cab and was checking in at the airport at 8am.
I probably will not cut it so close next time but the price was double to take a later flight but 10;45 you should be fine. Taxi ride cost 12.50 from the port to the airport. 10 minute taxi ride
