Came across a great price for a 8 day Mexican Riviera cruise. It is $559 for an obstructed view balcony. This is on the Carnival Spirit. Has anyone had an obstructed view on this ship or any other ship for that matter? Is the view terrible or is it worth booking?
Hard to go wrong with that price. I've had an obstructed balcony before, not sure which ship. Usually it's a lifeboat. Can only see a little bit. If they use the tenders at port, such as Cabo, you get a clear view, so it may be obstructed only part of the time. If you want the balcony to watch the ocean or lay in the sun, you will probably be disappointed. If you just want the room with some sunlight or just kick back on the balcony it will be fine. However, the price is great especially for 8 days.
I have not sailed in an obstructed balcony cabin on a Spirit class ship but I have been in one.
The balcony view is partially obstructed by the lifeboat. The top of the lifeboat is right below or even with your balcony. You get a front view but you will not see the water below you. You will still get light, air and a place to sit on the balcony.
It is a good price but how much more is an 8A or other balcony category? It may be worth it to spend $100 more to get a non-obstructed balcony.

Just came off "Miracle" (Spirit class ship, exactly the same as "Spirit") where we had an obstructed balcony, on deck 5. As noted above, the top of the lifeboat is even with the floor of your balcony, so you don't have a clear view of the water directly below you. Not at all bad, and especially for the price. I'd highly recommend booking these cabins, as I find nothing at all wrong with 'em.
Have a great cruise!..
