Default How Early can I board?

I just got our boarding passes for Carnival cruise departing Galveston on 12/26/10 which say boarding time is 12:30 - 2:30 pm. Can we board earlier than that? I was thinking I read somewhere that people started boarding at around 10:30 pm. I would like to board early, but don't want to get there early with my family and then have to sit around and wait until 12:30 pm.

Do not. I repeat, do not arrive at the pier before 11:00 a.m.. Boarding will not start until 11:30 - 12:30 and if you arrive earlier you will just sit around.

There are many reviews and postings from cruisers, some of them veteran cruisers, who show up at 9:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. and sit around for two or three hours and then complain about it. Don't start your cruise with a negative experience.

Take care,
Mike

All i can say about this port is..the time we cruised here, the lines were unreal.
Not really sure if this is a weekly occurance, but, we arrived sometime after 1pm I would say...slow inside as well...

is this your first cruise ever or just your first cruise out of Galveston ? one of the main issues is not what time you board, but what time will you have access to your cabin ..

if you arrive about noon, will miss most of the rush of everyone that arrived prior to 11 and should have a much easier time being processed and when you do board you should have immediate access to your cabin

if it's your 1st cruise we all understand your excitement about wanting to get to the port early, but unless you have an elite status, you won't be processed faster than the masses..however, if you don't mind waiting and enjoy people watching and getting caught up in the excitement ..just make sure you have as much paperwork filled out as possbile prior to leaving for the port

have a great cruise

We have cruised three times out of Galveston and each time we arrive around 11:00. We make sure our paperwork is complete (online) to ensure a smooth pre-boarding experience. Normally we are on board the ship 12:15 and enjoying lunch soon after.
Yes, it is true your room may not be ready until 1;30 or so, but that is ok. You are on the ship and enjoying your first meal. Your luggage will be delivered to your room later in the day and all you will have with you is your carry on items.

Go when you want and enjoy.

Thanks to all for their advice! This is our first Carnival cruise out of Galveston (have criused on RC and Disney before). Also, thanks for mentioning the paperwork....I will be sure to complete that before we leave.
