Default Flight Time Home

Need help with deciding on a flight time home. Will be on the Freedom and the ship arrives back to the Ft.Lauderdale port at 8AM. There is a 10:20AM non-stop home but then the next flight isn't till almost 1PM and that flight has a stop. The next non-stop isn't until after 3PM. I know the port is close to the airport but for all those who have done the Freedom out of Ft.Lauderdale, do you think I can make the 10:20AM flight without major stress? If I self-disembark will this make it quicker? Is the 8AM time the actual arrival time of the ship back to port or is this when disembark begins? I really appreciate any opinions.

I think that may be cutting it to close. Take your time getting off the ship and then go see some sight. The bummer is what to do with your luggage. We’re facing the same problem, only one direct flight well before noon and the other not until 4:30 pm. I say play it safe and take the later flight.

IF eveything was perfect, it's still a bit close nowadays..If your ship does not clear customs, as usual...looong security lines..remember, the Allure or the Oasis will disembarking too, so add another 2-3000 people wanting to get home..so you can see that flight time is best pushed back....

Take the 1:00 p.m. flight!!!!

If the stars are aligned and everything went PERFECT you might make the 10:20 a.m. flight but it isn't worth the hassle.

1:00 p.m. is the best time to fly out.

Take care
Mike

We are on Freedom next week and when I booked the flights I had a similar dilema. I opted for a flight out of Fort Lauderdale at 11:26 I hope it was the right choice. I will be informing guest services when I get on.

WRT the Oasis, I remember stepping off Miracle back in November as Oasis was still coming into port. MAYBE it's possible that this is intentional. Unload one ship, then the customs people pop over to the other terminal to check thru the Oasis people?

Dunno. Just hope we have no issues.

OK, then, you all have me convinced that I will go with the later flight. I would hate to end a good cruise with a missed flight home.

Thanks!!

Not only the clearing customs, getting off the ship and travel time to the airport but the lines at the airport. I have flown out of both Miami and Ft. Lauderdale on the weekends. It can be a nightmare, the long check in lines and even longer security lines. (Miami a little more so then FLL).

Are you on the Freedom for the 6n or the 8n? The 8n would dock back in FLL on a Sunday, thus skipping the issues with the Oasis who returns on a Saturday. If you're on the 6n, then the talk about the port being busy on return day is true.
