Smallest cabin riveria bad?
We are booking a cruise on the Carnival Truimph for March 5th. The lowest rate is 441 plus fees and taxes, or we can upgrade to the Main Level midship for about $85 more pp. Is the upgrade worth it? Do you think that 1 level up midship is worth the $170 more?

One cruise we stayed lower.I forget what was not an issue at that $ for all the good things you could do with it..A bauble...a great excursion... or some souvenirs of your trip..

Just me, but I'd stay put. As Trip says, there are other ways to spend your money.

Just my opinion,. but I would take the Riviera deck any day over the Main deck-- go to the Carnival website--pull up the deck plans for the Triumph.
Look at what is over the main deck-- show lounges, pursers desk, dining room, galley ( kitchen, ) etc.
Going up one deck isn't always an " upgrade." - the cabins are the same-By staying on Riviera, you have a passenger deck over you and no lounges, bars, etc. below you.
Plus, you're saving money to spend on something else and that ain't bad ! ;)

Being on Riviera deck isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you are all the way forward you will hear & feel the anchor chain at ports that tender, if you are more midship it's not really an issue. Occasionally you can hear the sound of the waves on the side of the ship in an outside cabin. This isn't really an issue (to me) either. The upper decks (IMO) are just that much closer to the Lido deck ;) so they cost more.

I LOVE the Riv Deck! It's a great place to be, and I certainly wouldn't pay extra to move up a deck or two. As a matter of fact, IMO the Riviera Deck on Triumph is BETTER, because you'll have cabins both above and below you. If you move to Main Deck, you may be under the main Lounge, one of the dining rooms, or most any other noisy public area. As a matter of fact, I think I'd pay more to STAY on Riviera Deck!

last year we booked the Liberty (last minute), the only cabins left were Riviera deck inside cabin. the price was right $399. Normally, we always get a balcony room, but none were available. although I did miss the balcony, we still had a great time!
