What age is considered adult on these ships? Do they ask for ID

Hello,
I am traveling with a 17 year old that will be 18 the week after we cruise. Is adult considered 21 or 18? As far as getting into the "adult only" areas or shows, do they ask for I.D.?
Thanks for info

21 to drink and 18 to gamble.

They don't necessarily card, but if, for example, an underage person wins in the casino, they could have a hard time getting paid.

I was more worried about the adult pool area and the adult comedy show than the casino.

They probably don't card unless there is reason to. Carnival often doesn't enforce the adult pool areas, anyway.

The S&S card will be keyed to the under 18, thats done from your info you give carnival. No drinks or casino, Other then that No problem.

It's so dark in the comedy clubs, I'd guess anyone could get in.
