Default Oscar Night Onboard?

I'll be cruising with a group of friends on the Splendor, departing the evening of the Academy Awards. (Well, we HOPE the Splendor will be departing!) For some, the Oscars are an addiction; for others in our party, we think it would be a blast to be able to see the show in a group setting onboard. Even if that's possible, I suspect our safety drill will interrupt the early part of the show.

Has anyone sailed on an Oscar night? Is the live feed available on the ship? Or perhaps a delayed showing?

We'd love to be able to plan something around that event. Thanks for any info!

Rick

I don' think I would be popping a champagne cork..not sure but, unlike a huge sports event, the Oscars are not up there...Even in your cabin, what you get for tv channels can be quite odd. I think the best you might do is recaps, if you receive CNN. Would be a fun night for you, if they did do a feed...

My thinking is that you would have to tape it at home before you leave .

Carnival, unlike many lines, does have network broadcasting, so it should be available. If you're sailing the day of the show, that might put a kink into catching it.

But, you never know, maybe they'll turn it into an "event" onboard. It would fit better if it was formal night

It has been shown on the Splendor before - not sure if it was on the big screen, but maybe.

Don't know if they will serve this again, but on the Splendor South America voyage it was an available desert.

I can't say for certain but I'm 80% sure that the Oscars aired while we were on Dream last year and that they aired it on the big screen by the pool.

I think having an Oscar party by the pool would be a fun night...they could really get into it,with, fun theme pastries, and cocktails. I would love it!

I couldn't believe the number of people rushing through dinner, if not skipping it entirely, to watch the Oscars. Made no sense to me!

I am surprised actually, that it would be on a big screen, because of a limited audience interested...super bowl, yes...It is a fun theme night for those interested though, in a smaller venue possibly?

My opinion is I am on vacation and dont give a rats butt about the Oscars or TV in general that week. I might tape it at home but other than that I would not give it a second thought. My idea is to get away from everything. I am connected at home. Enjoy anyway!
